Disappointed with Nationwide Cars - Twice!
If you are thinking of asking Nationwide Cars (UK discount car company) to source your new car then please read this.

I asked Nationwide to order my new car and was promised delivery in August. I paid the deposit and waited. When the delivery date arrived I heard nothing and had to chase Nationwide for news. After many calls I had a call back to tell me that the dealer who they ordered it through had omitted to submit the order therefore there was no car! After waiting nearly 2 months for the car I was not amused and accordingly let him know. He was very sorry of course. I then made the mistake of re-ordering another car as Nationwide assured me that this seldom happens, so I trusted them to get me another car. Again nearly 2 months later on the delivery date (despite checking up at various points along the way and was told everything was OK) it went quiet again and I had to chase up Luke to find out what was happening. Finally I get a phone call to say there was another problem! This time my car might exist somewhere, but he couldn't be sure, however the reason that I was again not going to get a car was that the manufacturer had changed the fleet discount terms, meaning that Nationwide would not or could not honor the price that was quoted to me and agreed.

So the situation is with Nationwide Cars is that the buyer is tied in to the agreement by paying a deposit which you can't get out of for any reason, but Nationwide on the other hand can get out of it at any time or change the price or just say that they can't supply it as and when they please. Read the terms and conditions which has more holes in it than Swiss cheese for them, but is cast iron solid for the customer. Nationwide also appear to not have a clue whether the car they order for you will arrive even if you ask them to check as I did more than once.

I wouldn't trust Nationwide Cars at all after this poor service. I don't believe much of what I was told either. I can only say watch out and tread very carefully with this company. Better still go to your local dealer and negotiate a similar price. You might pay slightly more but not having to deal with let down by Nationwide is worth every extra penny.
