Sorry to hear about this unfortunate incident and the fact your wedding was ruined, which no amount of money can make up for certainly.
I would suggest you sent Thomson a stern letter along with any photos or supporting evidence, if they don`t co operate, just take the matter to a small claims court.
I think the receipt of your court claim form should make them take more notice.
    Good luck!

We can prove it happened on transit as we have photos on the way to the airport and then as they sent it out we have photographic evidence of the damage too. It wasn't only our case either, one other person in our party and another (unrelated to our party) passengers' bags were damaged and 3 or 4 pushchairs were damaged. Ours was by far the worst though unfortunately for us.
See the Which link above. Though not sure how hand-made items with no receipts would be valued...

Thanks, I think a small claims court may have to be the next step. I sent them a massive and detailed email complete with all pictures of the damage and all the inconvenience and upset it caused. Their response was basically along the lines of "we've seen you've put a claim in with your insurance" (I haven't, I notified my insurers that the damage has occurred as I was instructed to do but have put no claim in) "so good luck" and "these things unfortunately happen from time to time" (not to this extent they don't and to be fair how does that make it okay even if they did?). No comment on our pictures or any of the details in my email whatsoever.

When you write to them be concise, give them 28 days to reply and put them on notice re court action.
I have been there and did it all myself without solicitor, they tried to fob me off with £100 nuisance value they called it, but I preferred to have my day in court and did. I got more than £100 anyway. They sound quite insensitive in their response to you.

Nor can I, and I would be surprised if anyone would compensate for the loss of jewellery which could have been carried onboard
