Ayway, so an Ebayer can claim upto 180 days after a sale? I don't like this buyer, I think he's dodgy but if my item is as described then there souldn't be any come back, I hope.
I hate selling on EBay, it can be stressful especially after the 15 emails he sent me before he bought the watch and the numerous after. I have good feedback and this chap could destroy it.
It's my daughters birthday today and as I tried to have a good time, this was playing on my mind, so I agreed to refund him £45 just to get rid of him.
I hope it has.
When I sold on ebay that would have made me put him on my BBL & remove any live listings from ebay. Plenty examples of this ending in buyer taking revenge at being put on BBL by using diff account to buy, small private selling accounts cant withstand revenge defects etc. Id then wait 3 months and then try again on my 2nd selling account with diff pictures/description :-)
But I would never have sold anything anywhere near that value on ebay anyway. If it had been a scammer (rather than what seems to be a changer wanting a discount) there are many ways sellers can lose both the item & the money.
the £45 part refund hopefully will get rid, I suppose its better than giving a full £1450 refund on return of what might be a damaged / differant watch or "something" that weighs the same as the watch.
yes paypal allows INR & SNAD claims for up to 180days from payment date. also if a chargeback is done, paypal will charge an extra £14 fee on top of full refund if seller can not provide proof of posting as per paypals rules (see 11.7) - https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full?locale.x=en_GB#11
also did you know that ebay are in the process of making all sellers pay for returns, so thats another potential cost risk that needs to be factored in before deciding to list items.0 -

Call me old fashioned but I'd never sell in the way the op did. I'm sure the jeweler who arranged the service could have offered a price for the watch. Yes it would be trade and it would break your heart to see his mark up. But then the deal is done without any comeback or aggro from retards on eBay.0 -

since I stopped getting rid of stuff on ebay, Iv been getting very nearly the same for my stuff as I might have on ebay after fees/postage etc. and the small amount im "losing" is more than made up for by the fact there is no risk of ebay hassel or paypal claims for upto 180days :-)
Iv been using cex for my dvd boxsets and old mobile, forums for my hobby stuff & gumtree/facebook for the rest :-)0 -
Mmm, this is odd. I got in touch, via email, to let him know that I wanted to refund him £45 but I received a message from EBay " We were unable to deliver your message to #####@members.ebay.co.uk
What does this mean, has he removed his email address or has he blocked me?0 -
Try re sending the email through ebay directly, rather than hitting reply in your email programme.0

Im on a phone so apologies if this has been stated.
Ebay claims for iNR and SNAD are 30 days from latest estimated or actual delivery date.
Paypal claims are 180 days from purchase.
Chargebacks where the buyer can infer fraudulent activity, Paypal may investigate up to 6 years from purchase.0
