Interesting combination, does beetroot make the sandwich messy?

I find using plain bread is best.I would advise against letting sandwiches sit for any length of time as this could lead to a slight discolouration of both the bread and one's skin.;)

Plain bread absorbs the juice better?

This topic is annoyingly interesting. Is there a way to cut the cheese without it crumbling?

Yes, I've found the structure of plain bread is best.Ofcourse you could toast the pan bread, but that may lead us on to a discussion over the merits of toasted sandwiches vs untoasted sandwiches .Which in turn could lead to butter vs margarine, and if we're not careful chicken noodle soup vs chicken broth.

I've always found plain bread to be too dry although it seems to be preferred by the older generation.

Personally I would use butter when eating plain bread as it has been proven to make the bread more palatable .

Agreed, if it's not a sandwich then butter is always the best option.

It's an option but we really only have a knife at work and I don't want to go to the trouble of bringing in a grater.
