It's 2 o'clock on a Sunday morning and I'm excited by a conversation (with complete strangers) about sandwiches. Sometimes life is odd. On topic, I have been to too many funerals of all dominations and most religions. Where I have attended and not received egg & onion sandwiches there has still been some form of breaking of bread, of eating together. There is something comforting about the process so I hope it's not a ritual that stops.

The past ten years or so I have been to a few funeral teas which were held in hotels or nice restaurants, seems that is something that is definitely on the increase. The crematorium in Belfast hosts teas after the service and the use of that service seems to be on the up too. I went to a humanist ceremony which was lovely, the food bit was held in a semi open tent with live music. The sandwiches were lovely.

I remember pieces, though I remember them as butter and jam in uncut whole bread. I always wanted at least one heel.

Petit filous sandwiches? I have never heard of such a thing...:undecided

  • Has anyone a preferance for bacon and sauceage sandwiches? I just think these are the bees knees.

Really? I haven't tried them with cheese, and particular type and does it need to be melted on?

Personally I just go boring old cheddar melted on but I'm sure if you have a particular favourite that would be just as good..

Now that we are getting into "warm" sandwiches or should I say "Butties".. can we technically class these as sandwiches?

If so any strange "Butties" out there?

Personal "odd" Favs.... Please don't judge me !!! :D

    Fish Finger Butty....
Pie Butty..... any flavour/type...... all the same...
    Sausage Roll Butty...
    Cold Baked Bean Butty/Sandwich....
