Declined by Three

I am currently with EE but my contract has come to an end so decided to get a SIM only deal from Three.
After going into the store and answering the questions I was informed that I was declined credit. The guy in store gave me an email address to write to but they have come back saying it's still declined. I checked the 2 credit reference agencies they have in their appeal paperwork (Experian and Equifax) and both have me with an excellent credit score.
I have no loans, credit card debt, mortgage (I own my house) etc, so can't see what they are failing me on. Very frustrating!!!!

I think that's the problem. No borrowing can give you an uncertain credit risk. Unfair, I know.0

If there is nothing on your credit file (no CIFAS warning, for example) and you are on the electoral roll, you should make contact with the email address again (or even the Executive Office at Three) and ask them to check your details submitted for the credit check.
My initial supposition is that the salesman has made an error with some part of your application.====0 -
I actually had to email them through my full name, date of birth, address and how long I'd lived there after the initial request was declined.
Been on electoral roll for 3 1/2 years at my address and no CIFAS etc.
A few hours later they sent me this, what looks to be a generic message:
Following receipt of your recent email, we have reviewed your application but regret we are unable to alter the initial decision to decline the service.
We consider each potential customer’s application for service very carefully. This means that occasionally, we have to decline an application, if it has not fully met our acceptance requirements.
We evaluate the personal and financial information provided by you during the application process, together with information held by the Credit Reference Agencies. The information held by these agencies consists of public information such as electoral roll data and county court judgments, and information about your existing credit agreements with other lenders. We use an automated scoring process which assigns points to each piece of information. These points are then added together to give a ‘credit score’ that helps to assess the level of risk of each application and to determine if we can offer Three services based on this information. Credit scoring in this way helps ensure all applications are assessed impartially and fairly.

high end phone?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

It sounds like a glitch in the system to me.
From what you have said you should easily qualify for a SIM only contract with any UK network.0 -
It happened to me as well in many occasions, i tried through buymobile same deal which was on 3 and my order was approved.
I also failed credit check once through o2 but tried to buymobile and it was accepted,I don't understand whats the risk for sim only plan when 3 have an option to cap the price plan..0 -

Well I got a contract with 3 with the S4 last year and I had no credit history and I am self-employed... also, my bank account wasn't even a year old and I wasn't even on the electoral roll yet. All things that should have worked against me.0 -
It's not just mobile phone companies and credit checks. I ordered a HP laptop via HP's own web site using a credit card... HP's accounts department decided they couldn't verify my credentials and declined to accept the order (it was an outright purchase on a credit card, not an application for finance).
I've lived at the same address for 30+ years and there is no problem with my bank or credit card, and there was at least 10 times the value of the laptop in available credit at the time of ordering. I am a "wealth" customer with a large finance company, which gives me a big discount on share dealing... So some companies value me as a customer!
I bought an ASUS laptop from Argos. I have no idea what the perceived problem was with HP.0
