need to cancel my holiday..... HELP
Buttons1990
I am due to fly in 36 days on a holiday that has cost me and my partner approx £2500 each. His employer has now said he cannot have his annual leave and as nothing was put in writing he cannot fight it. I cannot see anywhere in my travel insurance that says if we get anything if we cancel our holiday for this kind of reason. Can anyone tell me if they know if we would be able to get anything back? Either from insurance or the travel company.
Thanks
Thanks

I would think there would be room for negotiation with the employer here. Why have they said that he can't have it?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

None of the insurances I've ever used would pay out on change of mind and you will have to check the terms and conditions of the travel company. Can you not go on your own or with a friend rather than loose all that money?0

Surely he must have realised that when he booked the time off?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Is there an assistant manager who would like to manage it for that period? Go to the company with potential solutions.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Little bit confused with this. Did he not apply for the time off, before booking the holiday and get it approved?
I have worked as a manager in many retail stores and it was always that when you wanted to go on holiday, that you gained approval from the company, or the inline manager for the dates with a written application. All my undermanagers were the same, that the holiday was signed off as ok, as then we could pre-plan their coverageAs Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -
Insurance won't cover it.
You haven't explained much about the misunderstanding. It would help if you did as somebody might be able to assist with the wording of a grievance. If he's in a union they could help.
As it stands, I'd suggest he pulls together a coherent plan for the effective running of his store while he's on holiday and puts this to his line manager as a proposal. The less effort those up the line have to make the more chance he has of having them change their minds.0 -

Where to and what are the terms on changing the names?0 -
Maybe a strategic accident just prior... nothing terminal... maybe a broken leg or whiplash...? Altho' as maybe you're not married or closeley related, the insurer wouldn't pay out unless both of you simultaneously caught green monkey disease... In which case they may just investigate...
Maybe not my best idea (fraud conviction- never able to get insurance again - for anything...?)0
