I switched from BGAS to nPower a year ago because of their great prices.

I would ring them up and log the meter reading that way too. (but they will probably send a meter reader anyway, nearer the time)

Yes it did take them about 7 months to send me my first bill, but it was correct when I got it.
  • We switched to NPower almost a year ago for dual fuel. The gas went through fine, the electric took almost 10 months to come through. Each side blaming the other for a final meter read figure. Anyway, as I had complained several times and they failed to resolve it in their 8 week period I got a credit of £150 to my account.

So while I agree their customer service leaves something to be desired we have been better off switching on two counts (cheaper prices and the compensation).

To ice the cake, I just took out another 1 year fixed deal with them via the Energy club here which reduces my bill further and with cashback! All for staying with the same supplier!

To balance the bias here a bit, I'm a happy npower customer for years. I chose them because they are the cheapest for our usage and I asses it every time I need to renew.

Never had a problem with CS and I get my bills every 6 month.

Out of curiousity what is your usage?

They say on their bills, ala Orange, your on the cheapest tariff but when you check it's not and you ask why, they say maybe it wasn't available when your bill was made up

Last year it was ~6500 kWh, this year it will be ~5500 kWh . We replaced almost all light bulbs with LED's and I swapped my home server with a low power one. It saves us quite a lot.

I think I see reference to ours being fairly consistent at around 4500 kWh per year, like yourself we have just gone LED mad and having had a load of MR16's fitted that should help.....even though half of them didn't work at times despite being fairly new.

That said surely there are other providers that would work cheaper for you, seems that way to me as just been looking into it, big questions is the feedback of the companies in question that are cheaper
