Why don't you call the insurance company? Don't see why Brazil would be different from anywhere else. As long as you are confident that you fit the criteria of the full insurance, there shouldn't be an issue. Just protect yourself in the usual way; pictures of the car etc. In the event of a major claim, it's possible that you could get an agreement to pay the bill whilst still in-country, if your paperwork is in order.
Direct Excess is AIG. So a large concern.
