BT agree to end contract early due to price increase

I know the title is stating what I am obviously entitled to, but I have read quite a few posts on this forum where people have been refused to have their Line Rental Saver refunded for unused time.

I'm just off the phone with BT to request my MAC, and after a few tame attempts to retain my business they agreed to give me my MAC and also confirm that once I have migrated I will be refunded any unused days on my Line Rental Saver.

I have to say, I was expecting a bit of a battle... some good news for anyone else considering leaving.

Now I watch my inbox in anticipation of my promised MAC code...

  • Following up on this, my broadband switched on 27th October (a day early, not complaining) and the phone on 10th November.

Called BT once they sent my final bill notification and they agree that I am due to be refunded my Line Rental Saver.

Just had my final bill amendment come through which shows a nice refund incoming! :)

Did take a little persuasion but when the person spoke with a manager briefly he did confirm I will be getting my refund within 15 days by cheque.
  • It seems to me that BT have spent so much on football for their TV channels that they can't afford decent service for customers. I have had a gut full of issues not resolved and waiting for replies so used the price increase to increase to transfer to another provider. I had to persist to get an email from BT confirming they would not charge me for leaving.

I finally got a reply that states, “Please take this email as confirmation that as you are moving providers due to the price change within the agreed 30 days there will be no cancellation charges due.”

Three weeks later I get a bill that includes £93 in penalties.

I will take to OFCOM if needed.

I originally got the "sorry you are leaving" email which included a bill for quite a bit, but that cleared when the final bill was calculated, which included some credits.

You may just need to give it time or speak with their accounts department.
