Ran for a marathon, didn't reach fundraising target

Thanks for all the advice. I'll put it in writing to them and ignore emails/calls until I know they've received it. I don't want to create more stress for my husband which I think naming and shaming would. If we could afford it I'd just pay them to get rid of them0
-
Naming and shaming could mean that pressure is put on them not to use such deplorable tactics and other people in your husband's position aren't subject to such insensitive treatment. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

I appreciate they're upset because someone else may have been able to raise them more (though my husband booked his place last minute so I'm not sure they filled all their places) but we're a bit upset because we worked really hard to raise what we did for which they have not thanked us.
How last minute was it?
Given that your husband booked his place 'last-minute' it sounds particularly unreasonable to expect to achieve the same fund raising targets0 -
I was really shocked to read this. I would do as others suggest re an official complaint and no further contact.
I have seen many events staged by charities, and never heard of anything like this. Most are, or should be, very grateful for whatever they get.
I wonder what is behind this: someone who has not been trained properly in donor stewardship I guess.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I guess they can't do anything legally but they keep contacting us and it's really stressing my husband out and he's disabled as a result of brain damage from the disease they support
This makes it all the worse! How can a charity set up to support people with a specific illness then treat a sufferer so badly?0 -
Make your complaint to the Chief Exec or another senior manager in the Charity. It won't necessarily be given personal attention, but the main point is that you don't want to complaint to go to the manager of the 'revenue' section, as they will only be thinking about one side of the dispute.
Don't go public with it unless you feel you really need to and have been through a proper complaint process. Not so much for the sake of the charity, but because you don't necessarily want the 'publicity' yourself.
Also be assured that any demands you don't agree with are meaningless unless they actually decide to go to small claims court, which they won't (as they will lose, from what you have said, plus it's tiny money).0 -
Op
man up to them and tell them to get stuffed.............pay what was raised, get a reciept and support some one else next year.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

I've raised a complaint with the Charities Commission.
To the person who told me to "grow a pair"- Protecting my husband from unnecessary stress and therefore further illness is more important to me than winning an argument.
Thank you to the rest of you for your help
Cancer Research sent me a letter after I did a walking marathon to raise money for them a few years ago which I expected to be a thank you and instead suggested I donate some more so I expect some mercenary behaviour but not this level of harassment!0 -

How rude! They should be grafeul that you donated to them in the first place.
I did raise money for RNIB about 3 years ago, which wasn't a huge amount. I got a thank you letter and a certificate from them.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
