Well, that still fits into the description, just as the previously fanfared decrease of up to 5 pence turned out to be only 2 pence in most places.

My local Sainsbury is the cheapest around for fuel just now. I'll need to fill up by the end of the week, so a further reduction will be timely. :)

If it's anything like their 5p cut the other week which was .05p at my Asda garage, it will be .01p per litre.
over 73 but not over the hill.

Maybe it's a typo and they mean 2p per gallon? :D

I'm old enough to remember fuel priced per gallon. I even remember it at 80p per gallon! (As a boy. As a driver it was about £1.85 a gallon when I first passed my test).

A penny or two off is not much in the grand scheme of things. The price of a barrel of oil has fallen back a fair bit recently.

10p or 20p off would be better imo!
  • "drivers will pay no more than 126.7p/litre for diesel and no more than 123.7p/litre for unleaded."
    MSE 13 October 2014

I paid 123.7p a litre for unleaded on the 3rd October 2014 at the ASDA petrol station in Mosborough Sheffield.

However it is a totally self-service petrol station.
Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to p*** us off.

Ah, bod - you must be a tad younger than I. ;)

The first gallons I bought were 4 shillings and tenpence ha'penny. :p

    That's just a smidgeon under 25p a gallon!

And I can clearly remember the exchange rate in the pub was eight whiskies to the pound.

Can you hazard a guess at the year?
  • no , but I do remember there were no breathalizer laws in those days , and a police officer used to escort you home to make sure you had no problems
