Is Fixing Energy Price a Good Idea?

My energy supplier is offering to fix my energy price until 2018. Is this considered a good idea?

It depends on the rates they are offering you. There's no sign of upward pressure on prices at the moment so a four year fix is probably weighted in their favour.

Why don't you use the MSE Energy Club price comparison website to see how what you have been offered compares? I personally wouldn't fix more than 12 months ahead at the moment, because the longer fixes lock you in to higher costs per kWh.
  • That was my gut feeling too. Thanks.

I think it is a good idea but make sure you use the right supplier, first utility are good but try to phone them no chance
