Rusty cars?

Back in the 70s I had an Alfasud which failed it’s first MOT on chassis rust. A truly wonderful car in every way, just not suited to countries where it ever rains.0

have a 14 yr Skoda favorit. rust on rear wheel arches & some hidden by trim, driver door, and bonnet, sills have shed paint with rust, & there's only 2 patches on the panels themselves less than an inch. pulled off paint and used some loctite rust remedy. planning to get wire brushes and sand paper out and try some hamerite direct to rust paint. hopefully my battle with the rust will have some success. also plan to check underside thoroughly.0

"Used to" being the key words here.
I own a 21 year old Capri and the wife has a 15 year old Mondeo. The differences in rustproofing and anti-corrosion manufacturing techniques are obvious. I've won the fight on rust with the Capri but it's cost me a fortune. The Mondeo shows no signs.0
