using travel cot as main cot

DS used to roll about and kick the bars of the 'normal' cot. His cot had metal bars so he knocked himself against them and woke himself up. The travel cot being mesh meant he didn't do it when he slept in there.I used a travel cot for DD for about 2.5 years. Not sure why but she settled and slept better in the travel cot.0 -
With hindsight, DS1 would have been better in the travel cot we had for DS3 for his daytime sleeps during that GHASTLY phase when he didn't want to have daytime sleeps but desperately needed them - he used to haul himself up to a standing position, howl and howl and HOWL until he fell asleep standing up, fall over, bang his head on the bars and wake himself up again ... and haul himself up and howl again.DS used to roll about and kick the bars of the 'normal' cot. But the only travel cot I had seen at that stage was my friends, which definitely wasn't suitable for a one year old.
So I think the answer to the OP's question is that it very much depends on the travel cot, and there are folding cots out there which might work better ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
