Just worked out my present/decorations budget for this year - £650
That is for my 2 kids, hubbie, parents, sister, bro in law, 4 nieces, in laws, and 3 other kids. I tend to buy wrapping paper and cards in the sale but always need to buy some bits. I do hope to get my total under budget using coupons, bargain hunting and 3 for 2's etc. Food is separate, again have Xmas pud already for when massively reduced last year still in date, having starting buying non perishables when I see them on offer so spread the cost from oct until Xmas arrive. In reality it is madness to spend so much but we both work hard and I love Xmas and enjoying putting gifts together that I know my family will love:xmassmile:rudolf::snow_laug

have you thought about making your own decorations? dolie angels?quite cheap all you need is cocktail sticks, paper dolies, glue, wool and wooden beads and you get a lot for your money.

Spent £466.32 in 2013 gifts for 27 people - some were joint gifts & token gifts. 2014 - spend so far £266.28 with 12 still to go. Mostly these are homemade gifts or BOGOF or 3for2 etc.
    Christmas budget £266.38/£535 15/27gifts

My budget is as follows :

£250 x 3 for the children (including stockings)
    £300 between Dh and I
    £160 on family (small family)
    £40 on Christmas hamper
£30 on Xmas pjs f0r the kids (we recycle ours each year :) )

We spend £200 on all food, neither of us drink alcohol.

On top of that we have two of our children with Christmas time birthdays so thats another £400 inc parties.

So total spend in December is £1880

I budget all through the year putting £200 per month into a birthday and christmas fund! So no debt at all :)
  • Mine is £200 - it goes a long way after previous £50 ones! But I agree it is what ever you are comfortable with. The money is irrelevant ifyou can afford it and wanna spend it imo that fine.

I buy token gifts mostly apart from for my 2 children, but I put a lot of thought in each gift. Stumped for my parents this year tho!
