For my daughter, she gets a lot of stuff that I would have to buy throughout the year anyway so, although it looks like a lot, it's stuff she needs
That's what I do.. clothes and toiletries and for the older girls make up and hair stuff.. if they need something like new straighteners they get those too.. but it all comes out of that budget.. I don't buy toiletries all year we just use the Christmas ones!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
No kids fairly new partner, live alone.
To be honest I buy throughout the yearm Boots 70% sale is great!
100GBP for mum and stepdad split or combined. about same for brother and SIL.
I also buy for SIL's parents (they buy for me and I spent Xmas with them one year, a week!) 25 GBP each.
Then there's SIL's brother and his wife - approx 10GBP each.
Got an auntie and uncle 10GBP.
Friends and neighbours its token presents - I use Groupon or Body Shop events - Primark etc as only token presents.
This year I'll get small present (toy, books etc) for partner's 2 year old DD and for partner aftershave and maybe shirt so 50GBP.
As to the actual day - well one day is spent round my house either Xmas dinner (my turn) - I'd guess aprox 100 GBP plus spend on food/drink etc but people also bring extra. otherwise I go to parents, brother's etc.0 -

That's funny about the toiletries - my one luxury is luxe bath/shower stuff and in last years sales Philosophy had some nice shower gels with up to 70% off, Candy Cane etc, I used them well into 2014.
I also use what I get at Christmas into the new year.0 -

Or the lush sale!Technically not a Christmas present, but delicious all the same.
I just love the abundance when it's all gifted out, but like you say pigpen, it's all stuff that would be bought anyway. So the sofa looks full to the brim, but it's with a years worth of goodies :j0 -
I think it depends on what you feel comfortable with and budget, like others I try to hit the sales, esp Boots, so I try to get most of bday and a good chunk of Xmas.
My budgets
dad £50
mum £50
joint £50
DD - £150 main, £50 stocking
Close friends, £40
adults £10
token presents £5
then I give DD money
£20 nan
£20 grandad
£30 me
£5 friends

Hmmmm
The one thing I don't scrimp on is the Turkey. That is always a Norfolk bronze free range and that on its own will be around £50
But then I love turkey and that will feed us for a long long time
Rest of the bits and bobs I buy just enough for the planned meals. I hate over buying and trying to use up before stuff goes off
Drink wise, we drink a lot as a rule but out side of the house. So a couple of bottles of baileys and a couple of bottles of red for the home0 -
Zero - no extras for me0
