LOL, knowing the area I suspect Parkstone and Broadstone only take millionaires - is your brother a millionaire?
You don't know it that well (Broadstone resident for past 30+ years and not a millionaire).
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Yep I agree..Elsewhere is a yokel (i.e Not lived in Poole or Bournemouth). I lived in Hamworthy and Broadstone for a few years and I was not a millionaire lol but there is the lottery tonight lol !!.
  • Thanks for a nice and healthy debate.

My bruv will use this to his benefit lol !!

I admit I don't play golf, so was only guessing about the reason that those courses might be expensive. I do know the area, however.

Though I live out in the sticks now I grew up in Bournemouth (my mother ran a B&B in Southbourne) - met my husband when doing my A-levels at Bournemouth College and then we lived in Bournemouth for about 10 years before moving here to Purbeck.
  • Good morning,

Referring to Kentuniversity's original comment, apologies that you did not receive a reply. I have recently taken over as General Manager and the only reason I can think that a reply was not forthcoming was that the club had a short spell without a Manager so the email may not have been replied to and apologies if this was the case.

On the debate regarding joining fees, the reason for having one is two fold. As a members club, unlike some of the others that you mentioned, a member is not just paying a subscription in a business sense but is also becoming in a sense a part owner of the club. For this, we have a policy of charging a joining fee to recognise the stake in the club and to ensure a sense of loyalty to it. Many hundreds of previous and existing members have given hours of time and invested thousands of pounds to help it become as successful as it is and this joining fee is a way of recognising that members joining now get the benefit of these years of investment and work. Once this has been paid, and we do offer to spread this payment over a period of years, we then feel we offer excellent value annual subscription rates. The course has recently been voted the 46th best in England and we only charge marginally more than the other local clubs annual subscription rates. If you think of a football analogy and what premier league ticket prices are compared to championship or league one or two sides, this marginally higher sub represents excellent value for the product on offer.

I hope this helps answer your enquiry, feel free to get in touch if you have any further queries.

    Regards, Ed Richardson,
    General Manager, Broadstone Golf Club
