Item Not Received Scenario

Hi all.
A buyer bought something off me and it has not been received and they are asking for a refund which is fine but I have checked their feedback and recently another item went missing too.
I was hoping someone might be able to throw some suggestions around about the below scenario.
So the scenario........Janelle is a buyer.
1) She buys something off Michelle. The item goes missing. Janelle gets a full refund and Michelle claims off Royal Mail.
2) She then buys something off Leroy. The item goes missing. Janelle gets a full refund and Leroy claims off Royal Mail.
3) She then buys something off Ahmed. The item goes missing. Janelle gets a full refund and Ahmed claims off Royal Mail.
Would this scenario go on and on? Or do Royal Mail say "no more" after a certain amount?
Let's say:
4) She then buys something off Lucasz. The item goes missing. Janelle gets a full refund but when Lucasz tries to claim off Royal Mail, they say no because Janelle has claimed 3 times before.
What happens then? Does Lucasz have to take the loss on the chin or would there be a way around this for him? Could eBay get involved?
The above scenario is made up by the way. It could be that all the items genuinely never got delivered or that Janelle was making it up getting items for free and getting the full refund.

There is no point at all in worrying about scenarios, all that matters is that you have a Buyer claiming non receipt.
If you suspect they may be serial complainers you might want to risk asking them to open a case, it will give you a defect but it might stop them , and if it doesn't, then at least it flags up the INR to eBay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The sender claims off the Royal Mail not the buyer. No one has claimed more than once so time to refund.0

Och no. I happily refunded her.
So if the sender claims, then a buyer could claim items lost regularly? Oooooh. Sounds like a treat for people who want to claim item not received even if it is received.0 -

which is why you are always recommended to use a tracked and/or signed for delivery service. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

assuming you believe everyone is a scammer of course and can take the resulting hit on fees and profit.
OP- ebay do now look at the number of claims made by a buyer if they are made via the dispute centre- that's why my post suggested what it did. There have been a few people on the community boards recently saying they have been warned that they either can no longer buy or are given limits on price- due to their history of claims and issues.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've been in this situation just recently as a buyer, within about two weeks 4 of the 6 items I bought didn't turn up, obviously something amiss at a sorting office somewhere but I am sure anyone looking at my feedback would think I was up to something!0
-
I also have things gone missing in quick succession. I always remember an email from someone accusing me of trying to get items for free. It was very hurtful especially as I buy items in good faith and also have to disappoint the person I bought it for too.
Their probably are scammers but like with most things there are some genuine cases.Go get it!0 -
I just had a buyer last week send me a message asking for a refund on a lost item.
I checked her feedback and there were quite a few items not received so I sent her a message back saying 'no problem - you will need to open a case in Ebay. You seem to have a rather high rate of items going missing, might be worth contacting Royal Mail'
Not heard back from her since...
I don't send recorded because I sold over 200 of these items, so far she may be the only loss assuming she still opens the case - So if I refund her I lose around £15 net (which I can't claim back on a RM business account) but if I sent all the items tracked 200 x 90p I would have spent far more than the odd loss...0 -

What 'tracked' service are you buying for 90p?
Signed For is £1.10 and isn't tracked.0 -
Ok not tracked then signed for. I thought it was 90p? but I don't use it so may have got that wrong... Even more money saved then.0
