Have a look at alamobrits http://www.alamo.co.uk/brits

worked out the cheapest for me a couple of months ago from LAS.

picked up full and returned full for no charge.

agree with others think carefull about a convertible if you are doing lots of miles, i have had a Mustang convertible once and wouldnt have one again, Looks great but not the most comfortable and a small boot.

Someone mentioned the camaro but that is in a different price bracket to the Mustang

If alamobrits doesnt work out, try any of the UK brokers, If it does work you can join alamoinsiders and then get all your paperwork printed off before you head out and go straight to your car rather than queue up at the rental desk

Alamo's depot for LAX is in Aviation Boulevard, with the usual free courtesy bus provided between the airport terminals and the depot. If you're not familiar with the area and/or driving in the USA then you might like to have a look on Google Maps and perhaps do a StreetView virtual drive to your first destination. Here's a link to StreetView outside the depot, looking north:
    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Alamo+Rent+A+Car,+Aviation+Boulevard,+Inglewood,+CA,+United+States&hl=en&ll=33.954592,-118.37702&spn=0.009807,0.01929&sll=37.6,-95.665&sspn=38.050549,79.013672&oq=alamo+rent&hq=Alamo+Rent+A+Car,&hnear=Aviation+Blvd,+Inglewood,+California&t=m&z=16&layer=c&cbll=33.954498,-118.377019&panoid=9Uiac_KdLiDXwCnggWjxEA&cbp=12,39.21,,0,3.45

Just to add - all of the car rental depots around LAX are well signposted which is handy for when you return the vehicle.

It seems that the Alamo guy did a quick scan of the thread and didn't understand who was saying what to who.

If you go for Dollar at LAX location be aware they have a habit there of adding extra charges, even if you say no, look carefully at the mile & a half of ticker tape receipt they give you before you leave the counter or you may well get a shock at the end of the rental on your credit card, only had problems with LAX other locations used are fine, Alamo never a problem at all there, as a precaution always when signing the electronic pad add the phrase no extra's to it so they cannot claim you signed for the extra's

I concur with this. the Dollar desk at LAX is the only place I have been caught out with extra charges
