Tesco Hudl2 - transferring data from first Hudl

We have bought a Tesco Hudl2, and bright and sparkling it looks, too.

I'd like to transfer apps and data from our existing Hudl. Is there a simple way of doing this, like when we used Motorola Migrate between two Moto phones?

Thanks for helping us so that we don't have to all the apps separately.

Get Super Backup from the Play Store installed on both devices, it backs up almost everything.
Photo's and whatever else you created will still have to be copied over manually, but that's not difficult as they are located in the root of the SD card

It creates a folder called SmsContactsBackup in the root of your SD card where the backup info is contained, simply copy that folder from Hudl 1 to Hudl 2 before restoring.

If both devices are rooted then it also copies the app data so you are exactly where you left off.
If not rooted, you can only copy the app (but that's available on the Play Store anyway).
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

At the moment the Hudl 2 has failed to be rooted using various methods, eg Kingo and others.

    Kingo will root Hudl 1.

If you use google then lots of stuff will be available to the new tablet e.g. emails, contacts, files etc.
Any apps will be available in the playstore.

They said the same about the Galaxy devices running Jellybean 4.3 onwards tripping the KNOX counter (which still cannot be reset), it didn't take too long to disprove that it could be rooted without tripping KNOX.

It is also possible to fully de-KNOX a Samsung device by putting an older bootloader back on, but that requires a bit of sweet talk between the end user and Samsung themselves to achieve that.

Thanks for the help, folks. :)

I downloaded Super Backup to Hudl1 and archived the apps. Unless I've done something wrong, I can't see the next step - how do I now copy the archived Apps to Hudl2? (Sorry if that's a too simple question.)

    The message I got was;
    Backup finished!
But as your device is not rooted, so only the selected apps apk files (no apps data) are backuped.

Also BTW, I had a look at Helium which requires downloads to Hudl and computer. That didn't work - no relevant windows update for hudl for my laptop.

I hadn't thought of rooting. Is that worthwhile for Hudl?

Reviews suggest improved cameras, so perhaps yes.

I haven't used Skype on the Hudl but this article on Hudl1 suggests establishing a voice connection before clicking video.

I'll give it a try when our Hudl2 is set up.

Usually requires no windows updates but does require your phones USB Drivers installed .

Rooting has advantages but voids your warranty .

Not using a phone, just Hudl and laptop (Samsung).

I tried using the Samsung phone settings, so perhaps that's why it didn't work.
