  • Good Morning everyone, we've still got some hefty showers here today but thankfully they're not thundery so maybe the Lurcha will be a bit more settled and less unhappy poor old fella. He did well last night as we went to the second pub quiz of the week and had a humdinger of a thunderstorm while we were there and he didn't bat an ear, must have been background noise filtering out the thunder noise.

I defrosted some YS stewing steak last night so a nice ribsticking stew is on the menu for the next couple of days with some herby dumplings to keep us warm and full. I love winter food and all the root veg that's in season now and things like red cabbage casserole to serve with gammon, good gutsy flavours for the colder weather. DD2 is bringing my little Zebra up for the day tomorrow and going out in the evening to meet up with some old schoolfriends so I get to play Oma and babysit, heavenly!!!

Have yourselves a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.
  • Morning all,

Feel much better today thank goodness although did a fair amount of coughing during the night.

Weather lovely here so have just fimished second load of washing. Haven't done much washing this week.

Going to make a rice pudding in the slow cooker because it looks as though Himself is going down with whatever I have had, so a little bit of comfort food for him.

Lyn I do feel for poor Docky, our golden hated fireworks as well. The fireworks have started already here and Flora is not impressed by them at all, good thing she is a house cat now. We have fireworks from about now, owing to the Diwali festival until after bonefire night, so it is a long time.

Jackie I hope you have your drain removed today and you feel more comfortable.

Gers pleaased you are feeling a little better today, seems there are a few nasty bugs going around because TTFTM was ill for several weeks.

Judi hope your daughter remembers her injection today.

Hugs and positive vibes, and Elona you must be both so tired with travelling to the hospital every day. I remember I was OK to start with but as the 5 weeks progressed I felt so tired. Have you had nyone to view the house yet?

Hugs to all poorlies and positive vibes.

    Have a good day

    Morning all,

awake at 4 this morning so ive had 4 hours sleep.

Daughter overseas still having daily antibiotic injections, she still feels rough. Spoke to her this morning though and am reassured she is coping.

Middle son messaged me last night on Facebook to thank me for my birthday message. Pleased about that. Eldest son is posting again on Facebook.... I haven't dared to ask what his relationship status is.

Youngest daughter has asked me if I will have Grandbaby on the 21st. She's got an appointment to discuss laser eye treatment in Birmingham city centre. Sounds pretty scarey to me but there you go.

    Chores for today:

    [strike]Vacuum upstairs[/strike]
    [strike]Strip and remake the beds[/strike]
    [strike]Laundry[/strike]
    [strike]Clean/hot cloth upstairs[/strike]
    [strike]Vacuum stairs[/strike]
    [strike]Vacuum downstairs[/strike]
    [strike]Clean/hot cloth downstairs[/strike]
    [strike]Bathroom[/strike]
    [strike]Kitchen floor[/strike]
[strike]Read and submit meter readings for my new utility supplier[/strike]
Negotiate board between 'Youngest' and his Dad.
    [strike]Tea - pork[/strike]

    Onwards and forwards

    have a great day all.

  • Morning all, supposed to be doing housework but far more enjoyable catching up on all these threads :D
All windows & doors open here in Wiltshire. Although it's cold in the shade, its warm in the sun & as today is looking the best day over the weekend, towels & bedding are in the WM hoping to be hung out on the line. Work & school uniforms will be washed tonight, giving them 2 days to dry on the airers.
Boiled then roasted a gammon last night for tea (3.99 offer from L!d1, brought 2 & popped one away in the freezer for Christmas)
Took the skin off after boiling & roasted it up for the dog... he was very pleased...
The rest of the gammon had an english mustard & brown sugar coating brush on to it ~delicious~ what wasn't gobbled up with roasties & veg last night is being nibbled on now by me for brunch ~naughty!~
Have taken a portion of batch cooked chicken stew out to defrost for me for tea, Mr C & my little elves will have something out the freezer as they'll all be in & out at different times.
Got the big week shop done yesterday afternoon as have lots of football this weekend but am hoping to get some baking & batch cooking in, some Eb^ying & maybe some housework!
Haven't touched my Christmas crochet blanket for about a week so really should get on with that too.
Thoughts & well wishes for those who need them x
  • Lovely and bright here this morning, two loads of washing done and a third lot in the machine.

I need to nip down town to get some more freezer bags, I am going through them like billyo because of all of the HG stuff that I am freezing.

Then I want to sort through all of the Christmas stuff that I have bought so far and see what is left to get, which isn't much now :D
I need to defrost the chest freezer which doesn't take long and I will inventory it as I go.

So I have a busy day ahead of me.

Redruby, I hope that tonight goes ok (((Hugs)))xx

Gers glad to hear that you feel better xx

    Morning all,

JackieO- Hope you lose the drain today.

Judi - Glad you had a thanks from your DS.

Dandy - Yep, the Ebola hype is scary but if you read the NHS website spiel about it, it seems quite hard to catch - a bit like HIV in it's transmission. Think I'm going to live in a bubble :)

Bit miffed at DS2 again. He said he'd be in early last night, which meant about 11 rather than near 1am. Got up for the loo at half two to see he wasn't home. He came in at half six this morning. I knew where he was (at his gf's) but the fact he didn't have the courtesy to let us know really annoyed me. Will have words with him after College.

I've pegged the bedding on the line but wonder how long it will be out there as the sun has gone behind the dark clouds :(
  • Butterfly Brain... I'm waiting until the 24th/25th of this month to sort through & wrap mine so I can have Christmas on QVC on in the background :xmassmile
Have to confess to also opening the mini stollen at the weekend :o... I did share :snow_laug

    Afternoon :)

Had a lovely walk with dogs and my mum and then back to hers for an al fresco brunch :D I have come back and time to tackle mount wash more. Trying to take advantage of the sunshine and breeze to get as much stuff line dried as I possibly can. Lounge windows are covered in kids hand prints so need to clean those too.

Tea is supposed to be fish pie BUT I seriously cannot get myself worked up for it :o

Mrs Christmas (love your username btw) I am also in Wiltshire

Am very envious of you all with your Chrimbo shopping done. I did it in advance one year and DS had moved in his obsessions by the time it rolled around. Not making that mistake again.

Redruby thinking of you all. Hope you can all enjoy a nice meal together and smile through the tears xx
Hugs and spoons all round. Have a great day all

Havent thought about Christmas yet. Ive got £100 saved in vouchers and ive got two other Grandsons to think about this year. I chucked the Christmas tree out this week as its way too big now we have had the new furniture. Not sure how/if I'm going to replace it. Ideally I'd like something to fit up this corner.
