How are solicitor fees and stamp duty paid when moving house?

Sorry for the dim question!

But when I move will the solicitors fees and stamp duty be taken out of the equity from my current property as part of the sale and purchase or will I be billed by my solicitor separately for these?

Does the same go for the estate agent fees?

Thanks.

You'll get a Completion Statement before completion date showing all acounts. Amount coming in from sale, cost of purchase, Estate agent & solicitor fees, other costs, SDLT etc.

If there is going to be spare cash from all that, you'll receive it after Completion.

If there will be a shortfall, you'll be asked to pay it.

You will get a bill but the actual money would normally be taken from your equity.

Same is usually true of estate agents fees although there is nothing to stop you choosing to pay these direct if you prefer. The estate agents usually send their bill to the solicitor as soon as exchange has taken place, to be paid on completion.

Same as above, I would imagine pretty standard.
Solicitor sent a statement a week or so before moving day/completion giving a breakdown of where the money was coming from and who they were paying (themselves, EA, stamp duty), and the amount of equity left over, and how much we had to send to them to add to our deposit on new house.
