Outdoor Polyjohn, maybe £100 all-in with delivery, gully-suck, sited for a week. Posher temporary loos (with a tank, bowser, pumps, etc) significantly more.
For 7 people, maybe just do a deal with a neighbour??0 -

Or use his garden when he's not about:o:o:o:o;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

A couple of years back I got some quotes for renting one of the trailers with flush loos and washbasins. The smallest size I could find had 6 cubicles and 3 or 4 washbasins. My quotes were between £600 and £1000 plus vat for a week's hire. Talk to a local marquee hire company. They might do you a good deal as winter is likely to be a slack season for them.lonestarfan wrote: »....a mobile toilet unit for outside which I think needs a 13amp plug which is no problem but theres no prices on the websites I've looked at. I did hope my neighbours would be away at xmas but they're not so don't want to bother them but still a good suggestion thanks as they would've lent me their home.Outdoor Polyjohn, maybe £100 all-in with delivery, gully-suck, sited for a week. I'm really thinking a motor home would be great for the 3 boy teenagers but the cold weather over Xmas might mean a motor home is too cold and I'm not sure of proce but will. Get some quotes next week.
I've never heard of polyjohn but they look great on the website and I guess I could manage with that as they look a bit better than portaloo. I would want it for 4 days - is that likely to be £400 eg £100 per day? I've emailed them so hope to get some contact and a quote. Cheers.0 -
I found the same as you but did manage to find one with 2 loos but don't know the cost so will wait for their reply. Thanks for the info though as it gives me an idea. Now I'm getting carried away and thinking of a shower cubicle as well lol! It's actually 8 people I've realised but as others say - just manage - and when we were growing up we had 5 everyday with one loo but forget that as ensuites are so popular now!ChristineL wrote: »A couple of years back I got some quotes for renting one of the trailers with flush loos and washbasins. Bri - you don't have to clean these things out even after a belting No 2. The chemicals do their stuff and you simply pour out the contents through a spout .cyclonebri1 wrote: »
Without offence to Tony, the caravan portaloo isn't a good idea as anyone who's ever tried to clean a decent No2 out of 1 will tell you:eek:
The fixed bog in my caravan which operates on the same basis doesn't smell at all and is a doddle to empty. I know this very well indeed as it is my job to empty it every few days or more often when we take the grandchildren on holiday with us.
I have done this so very many times without any problems.Forgotten but not gone.0 -

I'm thinking more of the possible embarrassment for the visitors, some folks metabolism is to say the least, "strange", they can overfill 1 of those:rotfl:
Trouble is Tony the chemicals take time to work, it's out of action, until they do and boy is it still a messy job, too hands on for me.
I was a keen caravaner when my kids were young, then they got to the age where they told me in effect there was "more to life than kipping in a field and craping in a bucket", and those things are little more than glorified lidded buckets, certainly not for home use imho
Anyway we have given each side for the op to consider, all we can do.
PS, I've found the fitted units in caravans to be much more effective and do work, but these budget little items, ......I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

All good info thanks. Bit of a strange topic but lots I didn't know about chemicals toilets! And now I do
3 of my guests are a bit unclear of their plans but I suspect they'll only come for 4 days poss either Xmas eve or New Years eve so would a caravan toilet do the job for 4 days? Would I have to empty it before the 4 days? What's your opinion of the warmth of a caravan - is it too cold at Xmas for it. The one I'm looking at says its a fully flued heater with ample power to warm even the coldest nights.0 -
Just had a conversation with a caravan chappie. He says they've only got the smaller caravan but that the toilet would last a week for a family of four. It will cost £42 per day for hire so if I had it for 4 days that's £168. I imagine that's cheaper than a polyjohn or portaloo but now need to find out.
Chap says its a fully a flued gas fire that you leave on during the night to keep you warm. Does that sound right? Sounds a bit dangerous to me.0 -
A week...yeah OK if they use other toilets most of the time. If it's the only toilet the family of 4 uses then it will be full within a couple of days. Normally when travelling the family would try and use toilets on site or at restaurants rather than the one in the caravan. It will become smelly quickly....and especially at Christmas when most of us eat and drink a lot more than normal. I'd empty it every day...it's a terrible job.:footie:
