Iphone 5 unlocking
Comments
-
I have just bought a secondhand iPhone 5 and I bought it as unlocked, as the seller reset the phone to clear all info its now locked to EE.
Just wondering if anyone knew how to make it unlocked again.
thanks
You will need to get the owner to contact EE and ask to unlock it. As long as they used the phone for a minimum of 6 months, had or have an account in good standing with EE and pay the £20.42 charge, EE will process an unlock for the iPhone.
There is no other way to unlock an EE iPhone.====0 -
oh ok thanks.
thought there was a way to do it via iTunes as the phone was unlocked when I bought it but had to wait for a nano sim to come through.
thanks anyway0 -

That isn't possible, iPhones don't lock by resetting (well, not since the old jailbreak unlocks around the time of the iPhone 4 on iOS 5 or less).
If the phone was unlocked, it would still be unlocked. I presume the seller is telling you porkies.====0 -
Maybe the seller bought it in good faith from CPW as unlocked which then locks to the first network ?It's not just about the money0

I had bought a similar iphone. Locked to EE. You can use virgin or t mobile. I got my phone unlocked through ebay for £56. EE is more expensive to unlock. Be ware of rip off companies or misleading phone unlockers. I have been stung for £19, then asked for a further £100+ MAKE sure that you read all the SMALL PRINT. just don't tick the box. No refund either. I had tried to use officaliphoneunlock. No way would i try and use them again. Just make sure that you read all the agreements etc. Ebay way to go.0

Ebay way to go.
Second had phone are a minefield.
All unofficial iPhone unlockers (despite whatever they may claim) don't have access to Apple Servers, they rely on a person on the inside of each network submitted the code to Apple as if it's a "real" network unlock.
Look at https://www.officialiphoneunlock.co.uk/bulkorders.php under the Unlockers required, That OfficialIphoneunlock service is nothing more than someone entering unlock codes on the networks systems as a on the side job at work.
If a insider is caught doing this, or audited then the locks he put through can be reset and you have a locked phone.
EE is only more expensive as they have to pay the insider more to do it, presumably there's less people who can do it, or its harder to do, so the risk is higher, and the price then goes up.
Don't get me wrong the chances if it happening and your phone being re-locked are low, but its still a chance and if that happens you'll get no refund either.0
