  • Hi, my local supermarkets usually have these at this time of year near to the sugar/home baking stuff. Usually come with cellophane 'lids'. Think Robert Dyas also stock these and any kitchenware shops. Raspberry and nectarine sounds delicious by the way!

    Hi Sam

If you can afford it, then you might want to buy proper lids instead of the wax circles. This keeps the jam in much better condition - especially once you've started eating the jar.

If you are only making a small amount of jam then you can buy jars and lids (separately) from Lakeland. If you are making a lot then Ascott Smallholding supplies sell a huge variety of jars and lids http://www.ascott.biz/acatalog/Glass_Jars___Bottles.html

My local newagent sells them.I find jam keeps better if I use the wax/cellophane circles but use an ordinary lid once the jam has been opened.

i cover the jars with clingfilm stretched tightly, then the lid if i have kept it

remember to fill the jars brimming full as the jam will shrink back as it cools

Just wanted to say that Lakeland looks like a good option. I'm hoping to give some various jams and chutney items along with Christmas presents if I turn out to be god at it!Also made some cracking shortbread from a WI recipe this week so might also put that in the hampers.xx
