Mobile Hotspot Renting

Hi,
What i'm seeing recently is renting mobile hotspot devices instead of buying a simcard or seeking free wi-fi in a foreign country. As money saving, roaming is not even on that table
So, what do you think about these services? Can they really save the money and worth for seeking free wi-fi spots?

Buy your own 'Mobile Hotspot' and take it where ever you go.
3G MiFi from around £25.
Then just get a suitable data SIM and data package at your destination.0
