What about ordering online, ie Amazon. You can save a lot of money and even large items can be delivered FOC. Excellent returns policy with Amazon. I've never bought washing machines/cookers etc from Amazon but I had bought large items such as 50inch TVs' etc etc. One time I bought a smaller TV and the box looked damaged. I refused to accept it. No issues for the courier and Amazon immediately sent a replacement.
I started out with nothing......And still have most of it left:p

Dysons are excellent but they're overpriced in my view. What makes them so attractive however is the ease with which parts can be replaced by the user which extends the life of the device.

I agree. It's also worth checking what Currys have on offer too because sometimes they will beat Amazon when they're having clearance sales.
  • Try Basil Knipe Electrics in Ballymoney, not that far from Belfast?? They deliver, and customer service is excellent. They're always up for a bit of negotiation on price :)
  • It's worth thinking about how much you use things. I bought Miele for both the washing machine and dishwasher on the basis they're used almost every day and I've never regretted it. I also hate all the effort involved in buying new white goods so I really want them to last. I bought a cheaper tumble dryer because I only use it now and again in wet weather. Cooker and fridge came with the house but I'd definitely go Miele if I had to replace them.

They're certainly at the high end of pricing, but then they do tend to have the latest technology / thinking in them and they're very easy worked at.

We've had one of these for four years now and its never given any problems. Gets rave reviews by anyone who has one too.

Equally i'd imaging this Dyson at £99 would do pretty much the same job

which is probably in line with the mainstream brands.

No doubt about it they are (arguably) the best product on the market. when we had carpets we also had a Dyson. Never had to replace it, just replaced any worn out parts. I always felt there was a degree of overpricing though. Maybe it's just that stingy Ulster Scots gene that runs through me.

I would recommend Zanussi Electrolux for washing machines. Mine's 10 years old now and never given me a second's trouble despite me constantly overloading it!

Also a fan of Dysons, but not the upright ones as they are so bulky and hard to be round furniture with, prefer the cylinder.

Do not buy a Samsung tumble dryer or anything from Samsung.
We had a £550 tumble dryer breaking down after 20 months. The heat exchanger which is the broken part is not easily accessible and we followed the instructions and vacuumed it every month, which bent the ultra soft fins (a bit like tin foil). Now Samsung say that they cannot repair it because it is broken by the user.
All further attemts to highlight the design faults about this result in them repeating the same script over and over again. The engineer has concluded that the damage was caused by user whilst cleaning.
The 5 years warranty is shambles.
Do not buy from them. Even bootkitchenappliances have just repeated the same broken record and have been completely unhelpful.
No customer service and they say I need to proof their enineer wrong.
If you want quality or at least a proper service do not buy Samsung any cheap brand must be better than this
My wife nearly got a nervous breakdown, being accused by Samsung of breaking the machine ouselves and a month waiting without tumble dryer was not easy for a family used to use this machine nearly every day.
