2nd hand car - Gumtree - is this a scam?!!

Tell him to go to mot station, they know if a car is roadworthy or not, and as such issue a pass.
Your parents can't do much more than mot it, they don't know other than it passed.
Also, tell him to go fcuk himself0 -
Tell this !!!!!! to go away. It is a scam, if he wanted perfection he should have parted with considerably more than £400 for an MOT'd, driveable car.
Tell him go away once and have no further contact.0 -
If its a private sale then there is no comeback for the purchaser, unless the car was not as described. Tell him to visit the Citizens Advice Bureau and get them to explain what a private sale is.
I don't know what IYSWIM means."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
If You See What I Mean
Agree with the others - it's a scam. Ignore him. If he makes any threats, inform the Police.0 -
The car would have been sold as seen and, if you all know the car was genuine, then there can't really be an issue.
Personally I certainly wouldn't take the car back.0 -
Error.
Error.Credit Card £4350 @ 0% until October 20150 -
Tell the !!!!!! fella bought as seen. No come backs.
Tell him to go anywhere he wants as they will all say the same.

Private sales are always "sold as seen". You sold the car in good faith. The only possible way !!!!!! would have any comeback would be if you had deliberately mis-represented something. You had just had it MOT'd, it passed, end of. If !!!!!! thinks the MOT is dodgy then that's his problem, he can take it up with the garage. It's nothing whatsoever to do you or your parents.
Ignore anything further from him, except if he starts becoming threatening in any way, in which case you involve the police pronto.0 -
Is there anything on Gumtree that isn't a scam?Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

As above tell him to jog on and to never contact you again. Simples.0
