Yodel Signature Fraud (package from house of Fraser)

It isn't really ridiculous.
A "signature" can be anything. Legally, it doesn't have to be a beautiful copperplate rendition of "John Smith" - a crude "X" is quite legal (which, not that many years ago, was all may people could provide).
What is the delivery driver meant to do ?????0 -
I'm not sure how you can get a name from a scribble though to ensure the package has been handed over to someone accountable.
Or handed over at all which didn't happen in this case.
And what's the point of a signature then. Why don't we sign our cheques and affidavits with a crude X like we're all children.0 -

Legally - you can ! Which is a good thing - have you tried writing a decent version of your usual "signature" on one of those stupid pads that the delivery man thrusts at you ??0 -

I think Amex will pay out irrespective but will have to wait and see,
Just remembered I have purchase protection insurance and refund protection insurance whcihc is included with the card.
"If an item You buy is stolen or damaged within 90 days of purchase, You will be paid:the costs of repair or replacement of an item up to a maximum of the purchase price or £2,500 whichever is the lower"
Or
"If a retailer will not take back an unused item You purchased on the Card Account within 90 days of purchase, You will be paid the purchase price of the item or £200, whichever is the lower."
So if chargeback fails there is always this.
As much as some people like to hate they are the best card company. The card fee is more than made up with cashback and other rewards.0 -
Only if you allege (can prove?) it was stolen; none of the other circumstances noted fit your situation.0

Amex came to the party. Full credit. No questions asked really other than the signature from the delivery and my signature.
Amex is really the best card!! Very happy with the service with this and everything else.0 -
most couriers have tracking now to where the parcel was delivered, happened to me recently and they were able to look on the system and the GPS was showing the street below0
