5 year warranty Panasonic Viera TV - warning and advise please

I bought a 32" Viera TV specifically for the 5 year extended warranty on my assumption that an engineer would attend to repair the fault. My expectation are based on warranties for the washing machine, oven etc.
Unfortunately - and this wasn't made clear - the TV should have been a couple of inches bigger. Apparently 32inch TVs are "transportable" so I have to take this to a repair centre!
The nearest one is an hour each way and they can't fix on the spot. So I'm looking at a four hour trip to fix a faulty HDMI port.
I've spoken to customer services and they have said the T&C's say "we may attend for larger items" but nothing about the specifics size (over 32 inch).
Any advise? What else could I do, apart from never buy Panasonic again!!

Who did you buy it off? They are responsible for it.0

It's almost 3 years old now so into it's extended 5 year warranty I would guess. A place on Tottenham Court Road.0

When, I bought my 32" Panasonic from Richer Sounds, I commented that the new lightweight tvs are easy to transport, should a warranty claim be necessary , but they said it wouldn't matter,as they would collect as part of the service.0

You'll sometimes see references to 'on-site' warranties. For washing machines etc, I guess it's obvious that it would be on-site, but then you would expect to send an iPod or something away to get repaired. The various sizes of TVs would appear to be a grey area here...0

When I bought my TV, I did note that only 39" and over would be collected. So I bought a 39" model.0

I wish it would have been clearer, either at the point of purchase or on the Panny website that the TV had to be 39 inch and above. I may have bought something different from John Lewis.
The repair company did offer to send an engineer for £80, but I'll probably just get a HDMI splitter for £10 and make do. The warranty feels like a waste of time, especially when the telly was quite expensive at the time (£500 in 2011). There were cheaper ones without the smart functions.0 -

Well I did want to get it from Amazon, however part of the 5 year warrenty was that you could only get this if you were given a demonstration of the TV before buying. And only from specific dealers. The place of Tottenham Court Road (can't remember the name) was the cheapest at the time. Don't know what your problem is with buying from places on that road is.0
