You could have lots of crashes and blame everyone else - "Do you think I've got eyes in the back of my head or something?!"0

I think a lot of people already do.............“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Im agaisnt looking over the shoulder checks when changing lanes. The action of turning the head leads the body and this takes the arms with it and hence the steering.
Yep, I did that once, when I was learning to drive..
I don't drive a lot but occasionally do distances: this week south coast to Glasgow and back. Whilst I use my mirrors continuously I still use the life-saver: it's all too easy to have a momentary lapse, or somebody else doing something unexpectedly, and the habit I learnt as a motorcyclist is mostly not needed, but occasionally is. It happened this last trip: just about to move but had someone in my blind spot. Whoops, and a personal inquest as to why I didn't know he was there.
Sometimes when fast motorways merge it's difficult to take everything in with rear and both wing mirrors so the lifesaver becomes even more vital.0 -

I'm 100% certain that no-one drives facing backwards, although I agree with you that a large amount appear to be looking anywhere other than the road.0
