Which is your nearest airport for a Friday night departure?

London city airport. But I'd be happy to go to any "London" airport.

'London City' and cheap don't generally go hand in hand but have a look at the airports own website, it shows the whole timetable, you really only have two major carriers BA and Cityjet together with a few Swiss flights, Alitalia and Lufthansa. A quick search shows a flight to Rome at 1940 on a Friday and a return at 1710 on Sunday but I suspect the fares on all Friday night departures are off the scale, I know they are when I have booked to Edinburgh because of the number of city workers returning home

Indeed. Weekend fares from LCY are designed for those city bankers and lawyers who fancy a weekend away in Rome or Venice or people commuting back home. Bargains will be hard to come by.

Maybe. My case is slightly different to the norm maybe. It has to be after 18.00 on Friday and must back onow Sunday. Flights on any other days I'm not concerned about even if they are dirt cheap. Ultimately I'd like to just see a table of all the flights that match my criteria in in price ascending order.

Then do a search for flights leaving on the Friday and returning on the Sunday. Don't find anything then try the next week. Then the next week. Then the next week.

In the time you've spent creating and replying to this thread you could have searched every weekend for the next month at least!
