I was bailed for a couple of weeks because I thought there was a slim chance I may have the postage receipt at home. So they gave me a few weeks to find it.

The guy in charge of the investigation rung me and asked how I was getting on, to which I said I had no luck yet.

My solicitor then called me to see how my progress was, I said I hadn't found it, but I was going to ask royal mail and the post office. At that point my solicitor said that the investigator guy will re-interview me if i cannot find the receipt. Or have no proof.

I called my solicitor the next day to explain the situation regarding royal mail and the post office only keeping records by barcodes. She then mentioned she was going to speak to the investigator to see why he wanted to reinterview me.

I know it's all very bizarre!
Did you ever check the buyer received the laptop?
As I said earlier, if you did, you may have left a track on your computer where you can double click in the tracking box and the number would be there.

Do you have any details of the laptop, serial number, etc?

Did the buyer ever get in touch, or try to in the intervening 6 months?

It would seem to me that the buyer has not received the laptop. If it was a scam, there are better ways of trying to get money back, involving the police is about the worst. I'd also be inclined to think the buyer had tried to contact you at some time.

What evidence has been disclosed so far?

If they don't cancel your bail, expect to be charged.

Basically they searched my house but didn't take anything. The only thing they disclosed was money paid into my bank account.

So that's the only evidence they have?

The money was paid into your account, it must have been a very quick interview then.

What else was discussed?

are you known to the police for any other reason??

lol..

why i asked, and it prob got s@d all to do with anything, is that a few years back there was a hamper company, that swindled loads of customers.. and there was quite a few mser's that got swindled, pay x amount and get a hamper every month for a year or something like that, and trading standards and the police were involved.. cant remember the company name etc..

• Basically I was reinterviewed about the efforts made to find the receipt. The interviewer then contacted crown prosecution. After being put in a cell for a bit, I was charged!! Crazy!

Going to court? I don't get this

I would have done it special delivery at the post office - I would of paid by cash as I usually do for parcels. This has probably come to bite me in the bum.
Ignoring the fact the buyer waited 6 months to complain, and also ignoring the fact the police would look for some kind of record of fraudulent trading (ie, more than one), Special Delivery items are automatically insured for an absolute minimum of £250 anyway.

Pass the buck to the PO (assuming the story has any truth).
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

Without any receipt or proof that they actually handled it? You might just as well say you gave it to a bloke in a pub to deliver.
