Errr ip address`s are tied to a place not the computer using it, how on earth would the seller know what ip the person using the laptop is using.

If you know the day it was posted on, the Police can request the data from the PO's Horizon System, which will tell them all the SD's sent that day & then cross-reference them with the buyer's local delivery office & his signature to prove delivery

Oh dear,if your going to offer advice at least know what your talking about first.
The reason i responded was to help the op by explaining that the advice you gave was wrong and that following that line of of enquiry would be a waste of time.

I can actually imagine if this went to the right police officer them arresting someone for something they sold six months ago.

I used to work for a local authority and we had problems with local buses accessing an estate because of people parking. We tried to get the police to deal with it but they said they had better things to do.

A few weeks later I got talking to a Councillor who lived in a different area. She had got a knock on the door at 11pm at night and two police officers were at the door. She thought her husband had been killed in a car crash or something. Turned out they had seen a car parked on a bus stop, got the details of the owner and wanted her to move the car. The best of it was, that the only bus route that used the stop had been cancelled three months previously.
Was the bus stop outside a chip / pie / cake shop ;)
  • This thread is weird... arrests, ip addresses, bus routes, pie shops...

I'm inclined to agree but there must be an outside chance that an over zealous police station with a need to increase their arrest rate would investigate.

Detections and reduction is measured, not arrest numbers so that unlikely.

No new postings from the OP.

Maybe bail was set too high. We could have a whipround for him.
