Property is listed as De-energised
I recently moved into a brand new, new-build house a few weeks ago.
On completion day the meter readings were noted and recorded by the builder.
The builder tells me my gas and electricity are supplied by Scottish power.
When I contacted Scottish power to arrange being moved onto a more economical tariff, they told me my property is de-energised and that I need to arrange reconnection!
But my gas and electric are working fine.
What should I do, just wait until I get a bill?

I would check with SP that they have the right meter serial numbers for both your gas & electricity meters.

Put the facts as you believe them to be in writing - ie that you are told they supply, you have been told by their staff property is recorded as de-energised, though clearly it is not and invite them to resolve the issue.
You write in order that you can prove that you have taken reasonable steps to address any problem.
Set aside a reasonable sum to cover you usage and then wait for them to bill you. If they do as they should all is well.
If they fail to resolve it and / or bill you however then you may later wish / be able to rely on back billing rules to limit any claim to 12 months consumption.0 -
De-energised :rotfl:
They've obviously had the consultants in!
Disconnected, !!!!!!!0 -

De-energised and disconnected are two different things. De-energised is when the main fuse only has been removed. If a supply is showing as disconnected then the meter will have been physically removed as well.0 -

Physically disconnected means the service has been cut off outside. De - energized usually means meter removed and fuse removed.0 -
"De-energising" in this context is consultant babble, otherwise known as b/s. It's on a par with "blue sky thinking" and the like.0

I wonder if a new mpan /mpr has been created using an IGT. Get them to check via postcode / meter number , also new builds dont always register under the correct postcodesDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Hi everyone.
I have problem with Scotish Power since I moved into my new property.
Problems started from day 1. They could not find me on database. Then found. Then could not do DD payments. After several months did. But never send me the bill for almost 1.5 years even I registered this problem more than 1 year ago.
Now I want to switch to iSupply energy company but they informed that my address on database is de-energised. So I can not switch until Scotish Power will activate MPAN.
I have sent many emails but keep getting email with apology for the pats year or so.
Who can help me or suggest what to do? Would you recommend to contact citizens advise? Or would you recomend contact Ombudsman Services?0 -
If Scot Power think the meter is de energised, get them to re-energise it ( charges may be applied ).0
