O/S Daily Thread Tuesday 7th October

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Running very late so it's a real dash.

Left over pulled pork with fried rice for dinner.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

  • Morning all,

Thank you TTFTM for starting today's thread.

Up really early this morning, I have a heavy cold and a sore throat so I have had a coffee and a strepsil and feel more human now. I am usually lucky, because since finishing work I have very few colds, I think this one must have flown in through the window :)

Have to go to the supermarket this morning for a few essentials and once Himself is awake will put a wash on. I can't see what the weather is like at the moment but it is definitely cooler and I may have to use the tumble dryer, which I haven't used for months.

MOLLY I hope you managed to sort things out yesterday and that you are being kind to yourself

Hugs to all poorlies if you would like one

    Have a good day

Good morning all, well just looked out of the window and it looks wet 'n' windy and not very nice at all.Nurse came and apparently had been in touch with the consultant and my remaining drain is going to remain until at least Friday :(.its a bit uncomfortable and restrictive so I'm not very happy, but I'm sure its for a good reason.

I did a daft thing yesterday afternoon I decided to take myself for a short walk across to the shops ,just for a breath of fresh air if nothing else (I needed some sqwirty cream for DGS hot chocolate as well ) well I managed it there and back eventually A normal 5 minute trip each way took me over an hour :( and by the time I got back I was wiped out for the rest of the day. Don't think I'll be doing that for a few more days yet I think I over did it a bit and last night felt really rotten.Today I am going to be more sensible and do as I am told and keep resting.
I have a couple of friends coming this morning to visit for a cuppa and a chat so it will be feet up and sitting room for me today. One learns by ones mistakes though and I learnt that trying to do more than I should was silly :o
Still it was nice to get a bit of fresh air all the same.
The boys are great and come to my house after school and fuss around bless them.We had a game of cards yesterday and they had their hot chocolate which they love.I have the appointment to have the stitches out for next week so I'm hoping that I will be more mobile by then.Right thats enough typing for one day i'm off to browse.
Thanks for all your good wishes and I hope carolbee has a great time with her family
    Cheers chums JackieO

G'day all, just practicing the local lingo!

Morning all, up at silly o'clock due to sheer excitement, and the rain lashing against the bedroom window.

thanks for your good wishes all of you, it's due to the tips on here that we have been able to afford to go, so pack your cases everyone. Leaving here at noon for airport, fly at 6 and arriv 6am Oz time on Thursday.

Will keep an eye on the threads whilst away, whilst sitting exhausted after a day with a three and a half year old, can't wait to see her.

Glad to see JackieO posting, take it easy.

Hugs to all those that need them.

TTFM, thanks for starting the thread, hope everything is ok with you & hubby.
Molly, hope the day went ok for you.
JackieO, next time you fancy some fresh air, open a bloody window!
LW & Mrs LW, we must all have the same sense of humour I also imagined Docky with socks on, I was asked to dog sit at half term, the monster Labrador, he's huge but very gentle.
Well serves my right for complaining about hubby being on lates 2 weeks running, he's now doing a mixed shift this week, so we have a combination of late finishes & early starts, aarrgh.
Time I got the heated airer out hung the damp washing on it.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light but looks to be dry underfoot but air feels much cooler again. Yesterday started off dry but then rained steadily most of the day – forecast looks much the same for today. House was so cold this morning, I’ve put the heating on, but I’ll be turning it off shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and gone to work.

Dinner last night was a change to the plan as DH was late and didn’t want a heavy meal when he got in, so just had a sandwich. DS1 and DS2 had omelettes and chips and I had a jacket potato and salad. We will be having the lamb shanks, mash, veg and gravy for dinner tonight.

Looking forward to going back to the hospital on Thursday – hoping it’s the news I want – plaster off and steadily build up back to normal use – don’t know whether I’m going to get what I want though! Work are visiting on Monday – to discuss a phased return – originally I was hoping that I’d be going back on Monday but in reality that seems unlikely – work seem to be under the impression that I’ll need a phased return. We’ll have to see what they say on Thursday, fingers crossed!

    Take care x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Weather ok at the moment but we have warnings for heavy rain and gales later! Can't be bothered to look to see if there's any washing, it can wait.

JackieO - I second what redruby and HH say, slow down a bit.
    Molly, hugs to you.
    Hope everyone else is ok.

Not much to report. Went to visit a friend in hospital and ended up being the taxi back for the family, nice to be able to help as it must be an enormous stress for them. Then went to collect money from Credit Union (strange set up!), I had forgotten that I put £10 a month in so had a nice surprise and took £600 of it out for my trip to NYC on Monday.

Had cheese on toast for tea! Out tonight, must try harder tomorrow!

    Take care. XX

    Hi everyone,

Camelot, that must have been a nice surprise. Jackie, take it easy.

I spoke to DD last night - she was sat opposite David Beckham at the dinner they had, she said he was lovely. Simon Fuller and Jimmy Choo were there as well.

I'm at DS' waiting for the gardener, apparently he has had a puncture and will be late, annoying because I got up early to be here to let him in. Plans for the rest of the day depend on how long I will be here, maybe all day so I won't get much else done.

    Have a good day.
