The being in control means I pay for my utilities after I have consumed them, I pay for what I use.

I know how much I will be paying every quarter. I am brilliant at budgeting, and my system suits me.

Fair enough. You are happy to pay ten to twenty percent extra for that privilege (at the very least). But when suggesting it to others you should also point out the extra expense involved.

As a low user the extra you are paying is likely to be much more than six percent. I am a very low user but Ebico has not been suitable over the past years (especially not for electricity).

Now that Ofgem's standing charge whammy has kicked in in the future Ebico is looking to be a better option (and may end up being the only option) - but you have overpaid a lot over the last few years.

Compare it to 25p a day standing charge for three months. But when suggesting it to others you should also point out the extra expense involved. I did do in a previous post, as others have done also.

I have only been with them since January. I started over paying when British Gas brought in their standing charge, my reason for moving.

I'm off to town now, going to several places in one journey. I will be paying my bills over the counter at the bank with cash, because this is how I do things.

That's us told. The problem with people posting on MSE is that responders like to suggest ways that posters can actually save money.

Just for fun, I ran my projected usage through Ebico's calculator. They quoted £961.63 for gas and electricity compared to my present tariff quote of £784.67 ( fixed until June 2016). I am by no means a heavy user.

But you won't be a light user either. My projected costs for the next 12 months with Ebico are £143.40. I expect a slight rise in that because I haven't yet completed the first year with them.

My total posts on MSE are 997, I have been thanked 3358 times in 705 of them, so I think I am doing ok as regards helping people save money. I posted on here with information on what works for me. The OP can now assess all the replies, and based on his own figures he can make an informed choice.
