Electronic Brake - Does it impact resale value?

Interesting to see how many people like and want EPB's.
That's fine, your money your choice.
Only trouble is, and the thread is asking this question, its quite obvious that a goodly number of ''luddites'', me included, don't want one and won't be having one, so in order to answer the questions asked...
Yes, it will affect used values because fewer people will be potential buyers of a EPB equipped car, and arguably the usual used car buyer would be in the NO category.
We're seeing increasing numbers of posters on some forums moving away from Diesel, DSG, Automated Manual, CVT etc as used car choices, EPB is obviously joining that list.
For those that want to buy such things used, get some templates ready for your next new threads...my EPB, DPF, DMF, CVT, DSG (delete as appropriate) has failed and the quote to fix is xhundreds/thousands of pounds, what do i do now.0 -
RE: HCA - I didn't say I utilised this fweature, just that it works well with the EPB.
With regards to the comments about making "cars for idiots", I assume you had this view at the inception of ABS, power steering, electric windows, air con, sat nav etc. (waht kind of a "idiot" can't apply there own breaks multiple times per second, steer easily in car parks/tight spaces, wind their own windows, get there car up/down to temp, find their own way to a place)
To draw my comments to a close, I simply metioned I get on well with the modern technology of EPB's as I find it does exactly as it was designed to do.
Similairly I don't have issues with DPF's etc as I use my car in the way the manufacturer intended it to be used.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -

The 1.9cdti is a Fiat engine, I really don't need to say more.
The seats, people have trouble working out how to adjust them, there's a back tilt, base tilt, seat height and lumbar support. If you get the base tilt wrong, it'll restrict blood flow in the legs and you'll get a rather uncomfortable ride. I found the owners manual to be quite useful.... When in doubt RTFM.With regards to the comments about making "cars for idiots", I assume you had this view at the inception of ABS, power steering, electric windows, air con, sat nav etc. (waht kind of a "idiot" can't apply there own breaks multiple times per second, steer easily in car parks/tight spaces, wind their own windows, get there car up/down to temp, find their own way to a place)
ABS is safety feature, power steering is necessary because cars have gotten so big (same with servo assisted brakes), electric windows are a luxury, air con is a luxury, sat nav is a luxury.
Self parking systems, automatic hill start systems, etc etc, do nothing but compensate for incompetence and if one has to compensate for skills that are required to pass a driving test, then one shouldn't be on the road.... Simple as that!!
As for automatic braking (as fitted to some Volvo's), i'm in two mind on this...... it's a safety feature, but the driver should NEVER be in a position to need it. Having drivers flying along not paying attention, under the impression that the car will stop for them if anything happens, I think this is dangerous.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The reason I drive a petrol Vauxhall, been faultless the four years I've had it. It's the 140bhp 1.8, wouldn't want any smaller in an Astra.Strider590 wrote: »The 1.9cdti is a Fiat engine, I really don't need to say more.Strider590 wrote: »The seats, people have trouble working out how to adjust them, there's a back tilt, base tilt, seat height and lumbar support. No matter how either of us adjusted the seats it didn't make a difference, it was just an uncomfortable car. Even the rear seats were bad, it was a Design spec and he had a SRi as a courtesy car and that seemed worse. He had years of comfy Mondeos before the Vectra.
Compared to the Insignia Elite he had after it was worlds apart, which still isn't as comfy as the Audi he bought himself when he retired.0 -
Did I miss it or has no-one mentioned handbrake turns yet? :-D0

Yeah, you can try one of those with an EPB, but if the car is moving above a certain speed it applys the brakes to all four wheels as an Emergency Stop Assist feature.
But that feature is probably for "idiots" too.... :TLife isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -

Yeah, the idiots that are in such a dream world that they have time to reach for the button before hitting the brakes........ Utterly pointless, I can't think of one person who would, in a real emergency stop situation, reach for the EPB. If such a person exists, then they should be shot.
Would like to know how the Police train to do J-turns with EPBs.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

You don't use a handbrake to perform a J Turn, or if you do you ain't doing it properly.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -
