You could move the supply to Ebico perhaps? They have a no standing charge tariff. Would be better if you ever intend using gas again in the future or selling the property - it will be more sellable, maybe even more valuable with gas connected.

If you have mains gas then use it-it's third of the price of electricity.
If you reconnect at a later date you will pay a heavy charge.

It will be the standing charge you are paying .
Possible you could compare and swap to a cheaper tariff.

Suppose you have checked your gas meter readings .

    Is it your own house?
Disconnection of the existing gas supply will probably have an adverse affect on the property value. (because reconnection is usually very expensive)

If it's not your own house, but rented, I'm sure the landlord will not be impressed if you attempt to disconnect an existing service and you will almost certainly be charged the reconnection fee when you eventually leave. (Remember the LL probably has a security deposit)

Use a comparison site to find the best deal for you

Probably separate gas & electricity suppliers will be best for you, so do check this option.

Most comparison site will not allow you to enter zero consumption, so enter 1kWh per year for gas. There are suppliers that will not charge you anything for gas if you do not consume any, and on occassions (and perhaps dependant on region) you may even find one that ends up paying you if you don't use anything.

Yes, there is a charge to disconnect (why shouldn't you pay money for such a service?)

Yes, Ofgem have forced companies to stop issuing two-tier tariffs (consequently standing charges.)
