I explained that I am having difficulty at the moment and consider myself to be in financial hardship.
What arrears do you have?
What bills are you not paying?
Does your bank statement have things like Sky TV, mobile phones, shopping at places like NEXT etc?I took to gambling online which in the last month backfired on me badly and has left me without any money this month.
And that is likely to be a major problem with the bank. Gamblers do not get viewed upon well.I really need HSBC to refund me this money but I feel that they are being unfair and unless I find money for the latest charge, that I will be charged even more again.
You must avoid words like unfair when dealing with bank charges. That is nearly always an automatic rejection if you go with that reasoning. You have to focus on hardship but from what you say, your hardship seems self imposed and not a result of charges.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). They didn't accept hardship previously, they simply granted you a goodwill refund of some charges.Newport1987 wrote: »I don't understand why they accepted hardship previously but not now, even though I'm struggling more this time around.
You need to be in the Bank's definition of Financial Hardship and you clearly aren't. You admit that you've been using the account to fund online gambling and also that you have subscription television through Sky. The bank don't look favourably on this expenditure and regard it as evidence that you are not in hardship (as already pointed out above).
I suggest you cancel the Sky and cease the gambling if you are serious about getting out of debt. Probably also a good idea to head over to the "Debt Free Wannabe" board of this forum and provide your Statement Of Affairs (SOA);
