You would need to contact ESA and DLA to confirm if you can go on as his appointee - you may need to send legal documents to that effect and have them accepted by the DWP.
Appeals usually can only be done within a certain time period from a decision; again, you are best checking with the DWP departments to confirm that due to appointeeship being granted, if there is leeway in the time frame.
You would also need medical evidence to show how your son fits into one of the support group criteria, in order to do that.0 -
The appeal deadline is usually 13 months before it's absolutely too late to appeal.
'He ain't well' is not a reason to get ESA.
He needs to match one or more of the descriptors, or to be at risk if found to be fit.0 -
Due to mental health and not leaving house, his depression and panic attacks prevents him from leaving home, there is no way he can attend work related interviews at the job centre in town0

Have you been formally made his appointee? If not then call the DWP and ask them to send someone out to see both you and your son. They will officially make you the appointee and from then you can sort anything else out. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Being made his appointee is seperate from which group he is in. You really need to look at the descriptors for the support group to see if he fits any of them.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Hi, i have just been through the process of being made an appointee by DWP.
You phone the dwp helpline and make a request to see an officer. Within four weeks they will send someone to you home. Ask to Id so say for example passport and then they explain to you everything that an appointee can do. After this you sign a form and within 14 days you are officially an appointee regarding letter. But within 24 hours on the phone.
They were really helpful and the lady we saw was fantastic.0 -
Regarding groups do you mean support groups?
If so you can just call social services and ask your name to be added to the main contact list.
This means they contact you directly to arrange appointments, courses etc.
My father has vascular dementia and is partially deaf in one and fully in another.
If you wish to have full control of finances and health then you to have lasting power of attorney. Which is an absolute nightmare. Were still going through the process.
Regarding housing benefit etc I was advised to write a letter by my father to state that he gives full control to me and all correspondence to be directed yo me. This was also given within 24 hours.
Contact welfare rights and ask them to assist with filling out forms.
One more thing the best advice I can suggest is be open to with all agencies. The more information you give can only help. Don't be afraid to ask for help.0 -
I think the OP is referring to the groups within ESA not support groups of
the socialising typeBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
Hi not sure if this relevant to you, but looked through some paperwork this morning. Its sites state that as an appointee you can request your son to be changed from work group.
My take on the the info I have basically means if the job centre call you and say your son didn't attend a work focused job meeting.
As his appointee its your responsibility to make sure your son attends appointment. BUT if the appointments affect his health in any way and they is evidence you can place a request to change his groups.
As you have this evidence medically speaking you can say right I wish to change my sons work focused group and transfer him to basic work / socialisation group where he can taught the basic in communication. This in turn will assist with his personal development but also gain confidence and allowing him to attend a work focused programme.
Hope the above is okay and good luck0
