EE Broadband illegally charging for customer service calls?
SuperToaster
I recently joined EE as a home broadband customer and I've been having a few issues accessing my account.
I've been trying to find a way to contact customer services that doesn't use a chargeable number - which is now illegal under the consumer rights directive.
However on their website EE still only list an 0844 number if you're a home broadband user [I tried to link to their 'contact us' account page but as I've just registered I can't post links]
I can't imagine that EE would blatantly disregard legislation so surely there's a non premium rate number for home broadband customer services. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Did you try replacing the 0844 part of the number with 0344?
I would put a formal complaint to EE and demand they refund you for the cost of the call (which is also enforceable through a small claims court.... if you want to go that far).0 -
I gave you a "thanks" because I'd never heard of this but after checking I see you are 100% correct as is the follow up post above trying 03... to repace an 08... number.0

According to EE's website, http://ee.co.uk/help/safety-and-security/my-digital-life/ways-to-complain
From any EE, Orange or T-Mobile phone 150
From any phone 0844 873 8586
From any other line [Eh? They presumably mean any non-EE landline!] 0800 079 8586
Email: explore.ee.co.uk/broadband/email-us [This is actually a webform, not email. Remember to keep a copy of what you said, in case you need it later for your complaint to the Ombudsman.]
The legal stuff: Our standard opening hours are 7am to 11pm, 7 days a week. Calls are free from EE, Orange, T-Mobile phones and EE landlines. [my italics]This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
