Are you underpaying based on the promise of lower DDs and heading for a significant catch-up bill?
You can check today, but it will require some effort on your part, and therefore bring them into the realm of the active.
If you mean are my unit costs cheaper than another company, I've no idea, IMO they are all the same, promise £xxx savings to change, and then catch up PDQ with what you were paying n the first place! I've only changed once and there was no difference TBH.0 -
Our financial situation has recently changed. Previously, we both worked full time, had our salaries paid into our individual accounts and then transferred a sum to our joint account to cover all joint bills and household expenses. Whatever was left in our individual accounts was our own and this worked well for us as I have debts from before I met him that he should not be paying. It meant my "fun money" was less than his, despite my salary being higher, but I was happy with the set up and my husband was still generous with his fun money and would often pay for things for both of us.
Now, we have moved abroad and I am now working on a self employed basis on reduced hours. However, my husband is paid a significant amount more and our joint outgoings are considerably less, meaning we are actually much better off. We jointly pay for any bills which continue at home and each are still responsible for our individual bills, however my husband pays all of our bills out here and provides the majority of money for food/going out etc. It's taking me a bit of adjustment to spending what is effectively "his money" but I am now carrying his child so I don't feel too bad about it!!
I am earning enough to cover my debts and my expenses have reduced drastically so we hope to pay off all of our debts whilst out here and come home with a significant amount of joint savings.
In terms of the admin of our bills, I control everything (my job is in finance and I started as admin so it makes sense), and I suppose he would struggle with who we pay what to, how much, policy numbers etc but we are both pretty good at looking after our filing so I'm sure he could figure it out if something happened to me.0 -
I pay a few bills by DD - Sky, BT, mobile phone. OH is self employed so can never be sure when and how much money will go into bank. I don't want DD's to be refused.
Also when I pay things like the water or council tax if I can afford to I pay more than the monthly amount. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0
