It's Liftshare Week - Would you ever Carpool to work?

It's Liftshare week, a service that joins together those that want to carpool.
Would you ever think of sharing your car with a colleague to save on travel costs? Or do you like the luxury of that quiet time before work in the mornings?
If you do carpool anyway, how much have you saved?
If you're thinking of starting a car share our Motoring MoneySaving Checklist has a section on it (number 42)

I used to share my car to work and would do so again, it makes a lot of sense if convenient for the people sharing.

I also used to car pool some years ago.
I would again, but theres no-one who works near me currently who works similar hours.0 -
I've just started car sharing last week. Last week was my turn to drive but this morning I got to sleep on the way to work.

Haha that's one advantage they don't tell you about! Every little counts when it comes to sleep

Used to car pool with the Mrs, if that counts?
In principle I think it is a good idea, though at the moment I dont drive to work at all, and have often given people lifts to meeting in other offices etc. The challenge is finding someone who works similar enough hours to you and to establish the ground rules about being late0 -
I have done in the past. Both times i had to drive a long way out of my way to pick-up the person i worked with. The first was when i first started work after leaving school and the old man i picked up smoked like a chimney.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I shared my car with two others for about a year and didn't like it too much. I missed having my own quiet time, just a brief moment of the day where I can spend a little time with just my own thoughts.
I valued that more than the financial benefits so I ceased it.We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Just re-started sharing this week with the chap I used to share with, only stopped when I moved away but now I'm back in the same town so we've started up again. It's nice to have the company on the half hour drive, saves putting extra mileage on the car and also saves me about £80 - £100 a month, would be more if my little car wasn't so economical.0

I'd lift share if I could, if anyone from worked lived near(ish) to me.
In sharp contrast, the girls in the office, they all live on the same housing estate, less than 1 mile from work and each ALWAYS drive their own cars in every day. Yet ironically they make a huge fuss about doing charity events, recycling and being "green".
Personal vanity disguised as good intentions, me thinks.....“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I used to liftshare until the person I was giving a lift to moved house.
Now nobody in my office lives on my route and works similar hours to me, so it's not possible, but I would happily liftshare again.
I would have to set ground rules though. I'm a very punctual person, and it really used to bug me having to wait outside the persons house every morning, and for them to get back to the car every evening.Zebras rock0
