Hi all - from a wet and windy Concrete Cow Country!

Hester I hope you're feeling better by now; nothing worse than waking up in the morning feeling rough.

I've started knitting a cinderella topsy-turvey doll for my grand daughter as part of her christmas present so that will keep me occupied for a while too. I'm really enjoying making knitted toys at the moment. I have loads of wool and patterns but need to get some more stuffing as I go through loads at a time. I've made two little mermaids, a santa and Mrs Claus and a nurse for my friend who is a bit poorly.
I was looking at a book I picked up in a charity shop years ago last night - "Knitted Cats and Dogs". If I can get my hands sorted out, I quite fancy doing some of them, particularly the dog patterns.;) Trouble is, I have no space to put things like that when they're done, and no-one to make them for that I could give them to.:D
He Who Knows and the Lurcha came back from their walk like two drownded ratties and have been dried off, mopped up after and given hot coffee and dry socks.
I have a mental picture of the Lurcha sitting there wearing woolen socks and holding a mug of coffee in his front paws!:rotfl:

Jessie went home this morning - she went bananas when her "Dad" arrived (she belongs to the franchisee who covers this area - he uses the fact that he sends his own dog here as a recommendation of us as hosts when talking to new customers:D ). So we're dogless for a couple of days; then Jack (a JRT) will be arriving on Wednesday. He's been out before with the dog-sitting service some time ago, but not stayed with us before. If I recall correctly, he's elderly, and with a health condition that's controlled with medication.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

This mornings plans went awry - DS rang, he hurt his wrist yesterday playing football so he went to the surgery and was sent on to hospital for an x-ray, so I took him. It seems to be a severe sprain, no break so I strapped it up for him, he says he'll go back to work tomorrow but I wish he wouldn't.
  • My computer went phzzzzzzzt at the weekend :( It turns out it was the graphics card, what with that and the internet adaptor I have not been on for a few days. Anyhow at least DS fixed it for me with a spare graphics card that we had in the house, my computer is a real Frankenstein, cobbled together with salvaged parts from other computers, but it works and that is the main thing :D
Went to Hemel yesterday for a mooch mainly, but got a few things from the works for pressies, other than that we didn't get much, but it was nice to get out on such a nice day.
Dismal here at the moment and has been all morning. I was going to get the last of the beans picked today and then take them out so that I could dig over and manure the Beds ready for next year, but that won't be happening until it brightens up a bit.
Get well ((((Hugs)))) for Hester, Molly, LW, Hilly, JackieO Mr Elona, snoozer's DS and for anyone else I have missed.

    Sistercas How is DD?

Must get the kettle on for DH so he gets his cuppa before going back to work.

Love the thought of the dog with socks and a coffee!

Our old Labrador used to wear a scarf when it snowed, but only when it snowed, otherwise the boys said she would have looked silly!!She was also known to sport socks, clip,on earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.

Well, have managed to make it through to our holiday without putting the heating on. All fridges and freezers emptied and all packed, Australia here we come!

Although going there isn't OS, we have been able to afford to go by being OS all the time. Can't wait to see my DGD in the flesh for a big hug.

Take care all, will keep an eye on what's happening with you and hugs where needed.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I reckon Bailey's smart enough to manage a coffee mug - that dog's too clever for his own good sometimes!

Not had any that wear socks, but I have had an assortment of winter coats to put on them - Pandora has a little sheepskin coat; Sidny (sadly now over Rainbow Bridge) had a festive coat, red with white snowflakes on; and little Dave had a hand-made tartan coat with his name embroidered inside a
    red heart shape.:o

Have a GREAT time - seeing the family will more than make up for the OS times.
  • We got Docky a coat, a lovely red one with a little bit you could pull up over the back of his neck to keep his head dry, sadly the little booger wouldn't perform any function except walking when he was wearing it. So in the middle of a heavy rain shower we were the idiots taking the coat off the dog who would dash into the undergrowth with an air of total desperation to do what he had to do!!! and then come back looking smug, just gotta love him eh?

My bin men will love me again. Another wheelie bin filled to the brim. Might just get some more in if I squash it down by the time they come.

    Salmon for tea tonight.

    Have a good evening all.
