OS Daily Monday 6th Oct

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, but looks to be dry underfoot but air feels much cooler again.

DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early. DS1 up and gone to work.

Dinner last night was pizzas, chicken goujons, chips, and salad – not a typical sort of meal I’d serve on a Sunday but I wanted to steer us away from a takeaway again, and all these items I had in the freezer/fridge/stores. We all enjoyed the meal and there was clean plates all round. Tonight’s dinner on the menu plan is lamb shanks, so will make sure DS2 gets them in from the outside freezer before he leaves for school. I’ll serve the lamb with mash, veg and gravy.
The caravan meeting we went too was ok. We have 2 more next weekend, 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday, so with the travelling that will take up next weekend.

Take care x

Keep safe and well x

I hope I haven't started a duplicate thread, but couldn't find another one.
Fish have been fed, hubby has a cuppa in bed, he's on lates again this week so no need for him to get up yet.
I'm not feeling too good, I'll take some painkillers & hang on for a while before I set off for work to see if I feel better.
WM & DW are both on, hubby will empty them when he gets up.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs Hester

Morning all :)

Hester - I hope you feel better later x

I've dropped DD at station with permission to come hope after her BCG if her arm hurts, so I'm 99.9% sure I will get the call! I've looked on line what a Mantoux test looks like if there is TB present, and hers doesn't look like that so I'm pretty sure she's clear *fingers crossed*

I need to rake up the leaves in the garden and Hoover the boys room as DS1 is popping home tomorrow for a few days.

Have a good day all, and keep warm. Hugs to those in need xxx

Good morning everyone

It's very wet and windy here this morning and it's not much better indoors either. The girls are all grumpy and arguing with each other and hubby isn't exactly full of the joys either....must be Monday!

I have to call my housing association today as we have a huge leak in the bathroom which is coming through to the downstairs loo. Every time someone has a shower it's like Niagra falls. Not very helpful when there are 5 people needing to get showered most days. Also the light switch in the living room has stopped working too. I hate hate hate having people in the house when I'm here on my own but it has to be sorted out.

I will be cooking the Hairy Dieters chicken korma for tea with mini naans. I even remembered to marinate the chicken in yogurt this morning so we are off to a good start!. Housework wise it has to be the bathroom and loo especially if people are going to be coming in to look at the problem.

I've started knitting a cinderella topsy-turvey doll for my grand daughter as part of her christmas present so that will keep me occupied for a while too. I'm really enjoying making knitted toys at the moment. I have loads of wool and patterns but need to get some more stuffing as I go through loads at a time. I've made two little mermaids, a santa and Mrs Claus and a nurse for my friend who is a bit poorly.

Glad to see you up and about JackieO, take it easy though and get as much rest as you can. Hester - I hope you start feeling better very soon and to anyone else who is feeling under the weather, I hope you soon recover. Well that's all my waffling for now, hugs to all who would like one and take care xx

Very wet and windy here, hope you all stay safe. No washing, managed to get that more or less dried on the line yesterday before the rain started.

Finished DDs room last night and it looks ok. I wasn't sure I liked it but with the bed, etc in it isn't too bad. She loves it so that's the main thing.

Need to do some paperwork tonight when I get in and visit a friend in hospital, seem to have neglected a lot of things whilst I have been busy painting.

HH - Hope you feel better soon.

Have a good week all. Take care. XX

All the washing is done and dried, which is just as well because it's lashing down this morning.

Mr tru is driving me nuts, not sure how much longer I can put up with this. So I'll just be concentrating on myself for a while.

The weather has cancelled out my gardening jobs for today. I'm going to give the bathroom a good scrub, I don't think it's even been wiped over since the day we went away. Then it's on to my cards and crochet.

Morning all,

JackieO- glad to hear you are doing ok,take it easy x
Hester-hope you feel better soon, don't be rushing into work if you're not up to it.
Dandy Candy-hope DDs test comes through ok.
nmlc- sometimes its nice to have something different from the norm on a Sunday.

Its absolutely chucking it down here today and seemed very dark when I got up.Hope it eases a bit before Lylas walk. She woke us last night about 11.30 barking like the hound of the Baskervilles,I did hear someone shouting outside down the street so whether it was that I don't know-certainly no need for a burglar alarm here :D.Went down to quieten her,her tail wagged so hard bashing against the leather sofa it nearly made more noise than the bark.We were both tossing & turning after that till DH fell asleep and started snoring so I decamped to the spare room,we only have a folding guest bed in there but I prob got a bit more sleep than if I'd stayed in ours.
I need to look in the freezer as I had corned beef hash on the menu plan but realized last night I didnt get any more spuds when I shopped
Bit of tidying planned for today,DH cleaned the kitchen yesterday so that only needs a wipe, will put a wash on too but will have to put the TD on.
My dog walking neighbour has just text to say she doesnt want to get her dog wet through as she's been off her food and is 14,so I might as well get going.Have a good day all x

Hi everyone,

Hope you feel better soon Hester. Dumpling, I hope that you get a quick response from the HA and it's not too stressful. Dandy candy, fingers crossed for your DD's result.

I have to go to DS' to cat sit while the gardeners are there. It's a pity it's raining because the only access is through the house so I will probably be doing a lot of cleaning up after them.

My resolution to have 4 NSD's tis week has already come to a sticky end because we need some tea bags. I can do without bread but tea is unthinkable. Oh well, I shall make sure not to buy anything else.

I need to ring DD, she was in Scotland yesterday at a whisky launch, meeting David Beckham. I hope she had a good time.

Mornin everyone.

Was woken at 4.20am by the driving wind and rain, a real storm coming straight off the sea. Now it all looks calm again. Think it's driving across to the east coast now.

Today I have my telephone interview and then got an appointment at the bank to sort out some affairs there. Savings account only getting a rubbish interest rate. After that I hope to have my longed for quiet day.

HH - hope you feel better now or are tucked up under the duvet.

No idea what's for meals yet. Shall root in the freezer.

Happy Monday everyone.
