point of use water heaters

So which one did you get?
Sure the panels will be fine for low use top ups where the log burner falls short or is not needed and you get a cold snap.0 -
Maybe I phrased poorly. I didn't mean you bought the quick, but that maybe you chose them a little quickly over alternatives that may have been better.Didn't go for the panel heaters quickly at all... we've had the house for a year now though for some of that time it was being renovated.
Which is very possible with a modern storage heater.I wanted something which was programmable and thermostatically controlled.
Take a look at Quantum from Dimplex:

It gives just the kind of controllability you wanted:

So you would save even more!We are minimum users of heating appliances.
You're welcome. :cool:All advice appreciated, really, especially about point of use water heaters!0 -
And back to the original question

These under sink heaters are a possible solution for you (as well as buying a kettle). You will be able to add a timer to this if it suits your lifestyle.
You will be able to do washing up and washing your hands with this, but not instant boiling water (hence the kettle!)

One of my customers has just had a Franke boiling water tap fail in under 12 months... can't say that I know that they all do, it's just my experience today.

i've gone for http://www.quooker.co.uk/enuk/collection/Tanks/COMBI/68 - we have a dishwasher (I hate washing up) but there's always the odd item to wash through quickly (saving electricity!). This one does both boiling and hot water. I didn't want my mixer tap replaced so the tap will be situated through the worktop with the tank underneath the sink. I know it's an indulgence, but 'I'm worth it'!
:rotfl:
I know it's a minefield out there, seems I stepped on a couple.

Best to steer clear of sarcasm such as 'Gosh...128 views and no comments' and 'thanks for the avalanche of replies', then. You might get a better response.
Eh??
Neither of those comments were writthen sarcastically. That's the trouble with remote internet forums, no intent can be seen and no body language.
There were 128 views and no comments - fact! I was interested in people's experiences with the boiling tap and disappointed with the lack of comment.
And there was an avalanche of replies after I wrote that... and I was thrilled with them even if some were off track and pleased with the response.0
