Full Refund on Engagemnet Ring

Firstly, you should consider yourself lucky that your ex had enough morals to return the ring as she had no need to do so legally.
Secondly, the Leo code thing is an irrelevance as the only document that matters is the certificate detailing the carat weight/colour/clarity of the stone.
Find out how much a couple of jewellers will give you for the ring and also have a look on eBay to see how much rings of a similar stone size and quality have sold for to see if that might route might realise a better price. As others have said it is likely to be a fraction of the original price paid.0 -
Hello
I bought a ring from Ernest Jones in May. It is a Leo diamond which I bought because it comes with documents of authentication and a number to a website where you can trace the diamonds origins.
I tried out the number when I got it, but it didn't work. Fast forward a few months and my partner and I have split up (bad things happen). She gave me the ring back and I took a look at the tracing website again - still didn't work.
So I emailed Ernest Jones and told them that it didn't work and that I had no trust in the diamond and wanted a full refund. They told me to send across the code and they would look into it. I did this saying that I know it doesn't work and I don't want a response that you go in set up a code and hey presto,I must have been entering the wrong code. This is what happened.
They won't refund, I have no trust in the diamond but the code now works. Do I have a leg to stand on? If so who do I take my complaint to?
Thanks

There are all sorts of reasons why a website might not work. For example it may require you to use a particular browser or your security settings might be too high. But it now works and you have an authentic diamond from a reputable jeweller.
So what is your problem? You have a second hand ring with an authentic diamond but you say you do not trust it. Well unless you can prove it is not as described I cannot see you have any case whatsoever.
Suppose the website had worked when you first tried it. Would you still think you had a case for a full refund three months later?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Keep hold of it and use it again next time you propose to someone.
Although maybe not tell the "lucky" lady that

That's about the size of it
Amusing that he even dare pretend the FAULTY diamond is his reasoningWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

Sometimes you have to feel sorry for the person who deals with this type of complaint. The OP is a chancer. Simple as that0
