Full Refund on Engagemnet Ring

Hello
I bought a ring from Ernest Jones in May. It is a Leo diamond which I bought because it comes with documents of authentication and a number to a website where you can trace the diamonds origins.
I tried out the number when I got it, but it didn't work. Fast forward a few months and my partner and I have split up (bad things happen). She gave me the ring back and I took a look at the tracing website again - still didn't work.
So I emailed Ernest Jones and told them that it didn't work and that I had no trust in the diamond and wanted a full refund. They told me to send across the code and they would look into it. I did this saying that I know it doesn't work and I don't want a response that you go in set up a code and hey presto,I must have been entering the wrong code. This is what happened.
They won't refund, I have no trust in the diamond but the code now works. Do I have a leg to stand on? If so who do I take my complaint to?
Thanks

Why would you expect a refund now the code issue has been resolved?0

Sell the ring on yourself and get on with your life.
It is not the shops fault you have split up. Stop clutching at straws0 -
OP should go for a trade in, not a refund0

If you had contacted Ernest Jones when you first discovered that the code wasn't any good then you might well have had grounds for a refund but as you didn't do this, it appears that you didn't consider it too important at the time.
By not doing anything then it will probably be deemed that you accepted the ring and associated documentation and therefore will have lost your right of rejection.
The jeweller is still responsible for providing a remedy to your problem, something that they have done by giving a working code.0 -
The ring is now second hand as it was worn for several months. Why would you expect a refund. Just sell it on, cut your losses.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
